🏳️‍🌈 What a welcome at Capital Pride today! ❤️ The CPLA was proud to march alongside Ontario Liberals from across Ottawa, including our past candidate @brandonbay.ca. The smiles, cheers and waves along the route were wonderful. 🌈 Proud to be there. Proud to stand together. Happy Pride, Ottawa! ❤️🏳️‍🌈

I met a dog named after Pierre Elliott Trudeau today. Maybe the warmest welcome I've ever had.

Just played my first #ottawa city activity hunger games as a parent. Managed to score two of the three things we wanted. It's a lot clearer and cleaner than it was four years ago, but no less frantic and frustrating.

At our first Ottawa Housing Meetup last week, we tried something new. We played a modified version of Monopoly (a reference to its predecessor, Landlord's Game) to show why the answer to housing starts with land - returning its value to communites, not funding tax-free windfalls for some players.

If George Darouze wants to be "Carleton's strong voice at Queen's Park" like he claims, he needs to speak up for Carleton residents when his government is wrong, when it's not meeting their needs, and when it's trying to take away their voice by eliminating school board trustees.

I'm a big fan of this. Remote work helps businesses thrive in the places people live, accommodates the different needs of all employees, and broadens talent pools. Dragging knowledge workers back into the office to "save downtown" is bad policy that hurts workers and communities. It needs to stop.

While @beynate.bsky.social remains an MP, we are saddened to hear that such a strong voice for solving the housing crisis will no longer be a Cabinet Minister. In his short tenure as Minister, Nate set the tone on housing, taking action to lead at all 3 levels of government. /1

Unequivocally, housing prices are too high and must go down. Here in Ottawa, if we choose to "make sure the market is stable" and hold housing prices flat, it would take 17 years to even see 2016's prices again. We wouldn't see 2002's fairly-reasonable prices until 2061.

I've been strongly in the "hey, let's give the new guy a chance, he's got some skills that could really come in handy" camp when it comes to the new Housing Minister (See my piece in the Hub). But even I have to admit he's had a disastrous 24 hours. thehub.ca/2025/05/14...

There’s a lot in today’s housing announcement, but the key takeaway is ambition. We are meeting the challenge with a comprehensive plan to drive down the costs of home building and to reassert a forceful government role in getting affordable housing built.
