This rhinoceros beetle (Enema pan, what a cool name!) greeted me on my first morning at WildSumaco Biological Station in Ecuador. Don't let the horn confuse you - this one is a female (males have much longer horns). These beetles feed mainly on roots and are excellent diggers, even the clumsy males!
