As has become tradition I'm taking a day off work to enjoy a long weekend for a new Trails game :)

Took a couple months but I rolled credits on Tokyo Xanadu tonight. Really enjoyed it, I'm definitely looking forward to Kyoto Xanadu now 👍 (I actually played it Japanese for fun, but seeing as they haven't announced an English date yet I guess that's how I'll play Kyoto Xanadu too?)

Remember: being mean to people who use Claude is already here. You cannot stop it. It is available to everyone with an online connection. You need to embrace it or you'll fall behind.

Speaking as a (biased) localizer, this is legit one of the beautiful things about loc when it's done later, rather than simultaneously. You have time to figure out stuff like, "Oh, every chest has a separate 'it's closed' message rather than a universal one" and can tune your work accordingly.

I had to draw it

Two panel black and white dialogue-free comic. Panel 1: Ichiban walks up to Saeko, Nanba, and Adachi while pushing a small stroller that looks like a Dragon Quest slime monster. His three friends are excited and curious. Saeko wonders if there's a dog inside. Nanba wonders if it's a cat. Adachi is an idiot and thinks it might be a baby. Panel 2: Ichiban lovingly opens the slime to reveal a beautiful, shining, Nancy- his pet crawfish. Saeko, Nanba, and Adachi look on in disappointment.

On Trails into Reverie, I personally handled much of the dialogue for the main dungeon. The game lets you form parties out of over 50 characters across the series, each with dozens of unique combat and exploration barks. If I can make do without ChatGPT, so can Netflix writers making 100x my pay lol

I wrote more words about how it feels to be a translator watching the games press report on AI and labor, coming from a field that's fought these battles for decades. It may look like I'm beating up on one outlet, but it's not about them; I've been trying to write this for me and my peers all year.

I have a ton of PTO saved up so I thought why not take the day off and play the Sky remake all day I usually don't post my thoughts on a game until I've played through it but if I have any thoughts I'll leave them here. Feel free to mute this thread if you don't want to see it

A picture of Kiryu in Yakuza 3 wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Any time it's really hot out my power company sends an email with a literal leaderboard of whose homes are most efficient (no names/addresses) and I just can't believe someone thought this was a good idea

Got a GameCube as a kid with Luigi's Mansion and there's a very early part where a bunch of paintings rattle on the wall and talk to you with creepy purple text boxes. Didn't get past that part until I was much older lol Luckily I also had Mario Sunshine which was a much more pleasant experience

Freckled Umamusume: "It's all thanks to you and your trainer... That was the best race ever!"
Sakura Bakushin O: "...!"
Freckled Umamusume: "B-Baku?"
Sakura Bakushin O: "A hug for giving it your all! You gave it your best Bakushin out there!"
Freckled Umamusume: "...Yes... Yes!"
Sakura Bakushin O and her classmate shed tears of joy as they embrace each other for a long time.

I got sick while traveling so I ended up playing a fair amount of Umamusme and hey that game's really good! Idk if I'll stick with it long term, a lot of the f2p friction still rubs me the wrong way, but hey I've gotten like 15~ hours of enjoyment from it which is more than most games👍

Well I downloaded Umamusume on my phone but it immediately crashes when I try to open it. I'll take this as a sign that this will not be the gacha game that finally gets me 😅 (Apparently this is a problem with a lot of Android phones, it'll get fixed soon I'm sure)

Alright I think I'm putting Hundred Line down for now after doing a full route in the 2nd scenario. I'm really glad I took the time this year to play this great, wildly ambitious game. It's definitely my favorite Kodaka game, but I'm not a huge Danganronpa guy so that's not shocking 😅

I'm pretty happy I'm getting by playing Hundred Line in Japanese, but it's gonna take me months to beat it at my current rate 😅 I've only been able to play like an hour or two at a time cause after that my brain's completely shot like Darumi's here

Best of luck to everyone in the US/Canada trying to get a Switch 2 tonight 🫡 I'll be trying too even though nothing at launch is really drawing me in. I'll definitely want one eventually, and with all the chaos going on I just kinda wanna get one now while I can afford it 😅
