I don’t typically ask this, but is there a #photojournalist out there who’d be willing to look through and critique my portfolio submission for a job application that I just filled out? #photojournalism #portfolioreview

About to watch Wicked with my family, and the entire screening audience makes me feel like this… there’s too many kids.

Hey #PhotoSky. Consider subscribing to this “Hugging Face” blocklist that blocks some of the leading AI devs who scrape your #photography for AI slop. Reshare this blocklist for those who disagree with having your work scanned.

One I'm passionate about is wildfire prevention. One of the best methods of mitigating the impacts of wildland fire is by doing something called "Timber Stand Improvement". This effectively boils down to selectively chainsawing old trees and putting them in large piles to burn during the winter.
A group of conservationists stand in a large open field in the morning while getting ready to chainsaw trees to help improve the overall health of the forest.A chainsaw is used to break down branches of an already cut down tree to make it easier to separate into a large pile to burn for later.A conservationist smiles while sitting in a workstation while taking a break after having just broken down a tree.A conservationist creates a large pile of wood that will be burned during the winter to easily and efficiently dispose of excess fuel in the forest.

This is a measure taken to mitigate the impacts of a large wildland fire.

Most social media pages to me stopped being social. Rather becoming more of an echo chamber where you are sharing into the void and nobody cares about your work. Bluesky, so far, does feel substantially different for me. Tho I’ve never had an account on any platform with 1k+ followers before 🤷🏻‍♂️

Gm #PhotoSky. My favorite days as a seasonal ranger are project days, when I can follow random park staff around and document them working in the field. This is an interp ranger at Mesa Verde giving a tour of a cliff dwelling to the public. #Photography #Photographer #NationalPark #MesaVerde

Would anyone be opposed to me sharing some of my random periodic thoughts on films that I watch? Alongside being a photographer, I’m also a massive film buff. I will watch any genre in any language from any country in any time period. As long as if a film is either well reviewed or interests me.

Welcome to all new users on Bluesky, it's great to have you here. One of the key principles when uploading images here, is the inclusion of alt-text. We really want to help those with vision impairment to enjoy the content we upload, so do consider adding alt-text to your images when posting. Thx

Sorry, but I’m just not interested in having my images “purchased digitally”. You are more than welcome to order a print of one of my photos. But, I don’t want them “showcased in an exhibition” and probably labeled as if you took them. That’s art theft. What are your thoughts? #RespectArtists

A BlueSky Thread. I wanted to say as both a #photographer and someone who seasonally works for the national park service. I believe there is value in photographing many beautiful places in the world, but I believe it’s important to not share online the exact location of those special places. (1/6)
A 700 year old human handprint lay imprinted onto a sandstone wall. The handprint was created by throwing charcoal at the back of the hand, creating an outline of a hand.

For an image that I was not planning on taking today, I’m quite happy with this pano. I personally love the composition, but I wish I had better lighting. Oh well, I know where this shot was taken to replicate it later. I hope you enjoy. #photography #landscapephotography #photographer #photosky

Hey #PhotoSky. One of my favorite aspects of #photography is when that perfect moment happens where the stars align before your eyes and you grab your camera and take the shot. For any #photographer out there, reshare a photo of this happening to you.

My fav photography advice: "You can't always make a great photo, but you can always make the best photo possible. And if you have the discipline to do it, the world will occasionally meet you halfway and the results will speak for themselves." #Photography

My favorite #photoproject at my Acadia job was creating a showcase series of various park staff who help make the park function. One great feature was of the Schaefers, married volunteers with a combined 14,500 service hours who ran the park's lighthouse. www.nps.gov/articles/000... #photography

Capturing texture in large landscapes has always quite hard. I struggle with it. I prefer niching it down and having the texture fill the entire frame. Although, I don’t know if this style of image is really to anyone else’s interest at all. #Photography #Photographer #PhotoSky #Texture

Hey #PhotoSky. This is one of the best things about #BlueSky, the devs do not suppress links. With that said, here's my own #photography #portfolio. bradyrichardsphoto.com If you are a #photographer, please feel free to comment or reshare your own portfolio.

One of my favorite aspects of my job as an NPS park #photographer would be, being able to capture the smile and joy of a ranger doing their job. This is the style of images that I love taking. These photos were taken in both Acadia NP and Mesa Verde NP. #promosky

Hi BlueSky. I am a #photographer who works seasonally for the National Park Service. My style of #photography very much dips into the realm of photojournalism, despite never having worked as a journalist before. I do events, portraits, wildlife, and landscapes. #PromoSky
