In 1980, when I was five years old, my parents noticed me singing along with songs on the radio and offered to buy me some records. I chose my three favorites: 1. Another One Bites the Dust, Queen 2. Upside Down, Diana Ross 3. 9 to 5, Dolly Parton RIP Dolly

Naomi Klein is always excellent.
NAOMI KLIEIN to SAM ALTMAN:
...you ingested the entire written output of human civilization without consent, without compensation and without credit to build a system whose primary commercial application is eliminating the jobs of the people whose work you consumed.
You are not 'liberating human creativity' --you are strip-mining it and selling it back at a markup while calling the theft 'training data'."

It’s been nearly two decades since I worked at Stanford. I used to pass through the main quad regularly. It’s usually bustling with students and tourists, so I was thrilled to capture this people-free shot of the covered walkway that encircles the Inner Quad courtyard.

The insidious way things get worse is deliberate, rewarded optimization. These steps made Hotweels measurably cheaper (or improved margins), with no measurable loss of quality. Because the quality was hard to quantify, or noisy, or deemed low value by a secondary metric (no sales impact).

Every company says it wants holistic, coherent experiences, but almost all of them align designers with specific products. I’ve spent so much of my career fixing this problem.

A huge problem with organizations is that there is often an obsession with the information architecture (the org chart) and no one deals with the interaction design (how people communicate and collaborate in order to achieve coherent goals).
