Hey! Do you know anyone who works with EN→ptBR game localization? I would really love a recommendation, as I’m trying to break into the area. I bring 10+ years of experience in Localization, mostly as a QA/Reviewer, and also as a team lead. Please RT if you know folks in the industry! Thank you 🙏

I quoted on Reddit the bit from The Office when Michael said he’d shoot Toby twice (vs Bin Laden and Hitler). But it was about Zuckerberg (vs Musk and Bezos). I got a warning for inciting violence SO FAST. I doubt they’re doing a better job protecting trans folks from threats there as Zuckerberg.

Star Fox sometimes reminds me of group projects in school

Fan comic of the Nintendo series StarFox

Panel 1: Peppy Hare gestures to formation diagrams, asking “and we all know what to do when the enemy’s on our tail, right?”

Panel 2: Slippy says “Fly in front of Fox and let him shoot them down!”
Falco says “Fly in front of Fox, and let him shoot ‘em down.”
Peppy says “Fly in front of Fox! Let him shoot them down!”
Fox yells “s-somersault! You somersault!!”

I found 6 women who said they were “moderates” & did not align with any political party. I asked them if they would be willing to take a quiz on whether quotes about reproduction came from the 19th century or now. To convince them to spend time talking to me, I told them I was doing it for a class.

Lynda Barry did not squeeze your heart and simultaneously explain the point of all art with the barest of line drawings so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."

HOW TO LOOK AT ART by Lynda Barry

In the first panel, a dog-headed woman, a mother, looks at a painting in the "Madonna with Baby Jesus" vein. A small blobby child is standing next to her.

Mother: IM NOT SURE HOW TO LOOK AT ART.
Child: WHATS SPOSTA HAPPEN?

In the second panel the dog-headed mother holds up her hands (paws?) trying to explain to the child.

Mother: SOMETHING BIG. A REVELATION.
SUDDENLY YOU JUST UNDERSTAND.

In the third panel dog-headed mother goes back to looking at the painting. The child holds up their arms to be lifted.

Mother: NOT SURE HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
Child: HOW BOUT LIFT ME UP SO I CAN SEE BETTER

In the last panel, the dog-headed mother is holding the child, their position mirrored by the Madonna and baby Jesus in the painting.

I just watched Season 4 of Invincible. It’s almost unspeakably good. The one year wait for a meager 8 episodes always kills my hype (hence why I’m just watching it now), but oh my god what a show.

For a while I've been noodling on a taxonomy of decision types. I'm not convinced it's fully baked, but I already have been using it successfully in my design process, so I thought I might share it here in its current form. At the moment there's 5 types.

I just saw a YouTuber describe Mina The Hollower by saying it “feels like a sequel to itself” and: 1. Fully agreed. 2. What a succinct way to talk about design maturity!

There’s a bit with Colin Jost on Subway Takes where his take is “that was not on my bingo card” is one of the stupidest figures of speech. youtu.be/f4dZev5IWYs Now I keep seeing that phrase and being like “Colin Jost you motherfucker, I was very happy before not having noticed it!”

The expression, 'I didn't have that on my bingo card" is the dumbest expression I've ever heard!!

Techbros seem to love Tolkien, so here's an analogy to help you understand what genAI is. GenAI is The One Ring. You think your use is justified, b/c you don't have evil in your heart. But it came from evil, it is intended for evil purpose, & anything you do with it will be twisted to that end.

Boromir from THE LORD OF THE RINGS, holding The One Ring. He thought he could use it for good, but everything done with the ring turns to evil. He was one of the mightiest warriors of middle earth, and he could not resist its powers. Others even mightier fell to the ring. Do you think you are stronger than them? The One Ring is generative AI.

I remain convinced that there’s no gacha game that can be considered a good use of anyone’s time, and immediately lose some amount of respect for anyone who praises any of them in any capacity. “The animation is great!” “The pulls are generous!” “There’s a lot of free content!” SHUT UP, IT’S GACHA

An advertisement banner at the mall, showing a plasticy woman wearing a watch. She has six fingers. The effect is unsettling even at a glance, like she has a deformed caterpillaresque alien sprouting from her forelimb.
