Finally official! We got a DFG-NSF award to fund our collaborative project with @boulantlab.bsky.social at the University of Florida to understand the role of our newly characterized ARF1 compartments in polarized sorting in epithelial cells 🎉🎉🎉 very excited to get started with this!

Now, we need to wait until a clear picture of what the future NIH will look like emerges. And hopefully restart from scratch! After three years of hard work from the entire team to obtain the holy R01 grant. it is so frustrating!

This means the grant will not be approved next week, maybe never. This was a major milestone for the team since relocated the lab from Germany to Uni Florida. This major step back has major implications: we need to freeze planned hiring, refocus research projects, delay tenuring application 🧵2
