The chief executives of three firms that rent trains to the UK’s railways were paid a combined £3.5m last year – and they passed on almost £400m to shareholders in dividends.🚂💰💰💰

Yes, it’s quite a hike, isn’t it? Worse for those in physically demanding jobs like my (older) sister. She’ll be 64 in November, and is a carer, so using a hoist/lifting patients is an everyday thing.

Constantly hearing youths say "that's so AI" when someone does something half heartedly (especially at the gym) or when describing something they didn't like. Brexit, Temu, and AI all used in different ways for describing rubbish.

My teacher brother has just informed me that his primary school kids now refer to anything shit or old fashioned as "Brexit". Which has made my morning.

There is an interactive real-time map that tracks more than 900,000 trees across Berlin and calculates the water needs of each one. It is evident we need to water our city trees to maintain shade. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

In 1797, Thomas Paine proposed a national fund to pay every person compensation for the natural inheritance lost when land became private property. That's basic income, two centuries before the term existed.
"To create a national fund, out of which there shall be paid to every person, when arrived at the age of twenty-one years, the sum of fifteen pounds sterling, as a compensation in part, for the loss of his or her natural inheritance, by the introduction of the system of landed property: And also, the sum of ten pounds per annum, during life, to every person now living, of the age of fifty years, and to all others as they shall arrive at that age." ~ Thomas Paine, Agrarian Justice 1797

Social Care is affordable in the UK. Just not Privatised Social Care. Currently a Social Care Worker is paid £12.60 an hour. The Council is charged £33.20 an hour. A huge amount of this is profit which goes completely untaxed. As you can see this will NEVER be affordable.
