The reason it should be deleted, as I stated before, is because people tend to get very angry and attack artists if they think the artist is doing art theft/plagiarism. They do not do this if they think a photo reference is being used. Hopefully this helps you understand my concerns.

Look at the numbers for who has seen the incorrect version vs the correct version. You do not need to be outraged, the post should simply be deleted and replaced with an accurate one. The solution is harmless and uncomplicated.

The point hidden in the replies is not going to get through to the 1000 people who only briefly scrolled past the original post and now assumes incorrectly that anyone doing this trend is participating in art plagiarism. I think spreading unnecessary outrage with misinformation is not good.

So now the question is, are photos okay for art but not memes? Does a trend-based drawing not count as art? The painter didn't credit the photograph, so why is there still a post saying that the painting deserves credit. The point becomes lost.

Using photo reference for art without crediting the photographer is extremely common. Most people don't consider this to be a problem. Most people do consider copying other art to be a huge problem. The distinction is very important. Photography needing credit is an important but separate topic.

It really doesn't stand because it looks like most people understood that the reference was from a photo and you are now accidentally creating a fictional situation where artists are copying an artist to encourage outrage. You shouldn't keep a post with misinformation up assuming ppl will see part 2

So is it ok to forgive this painter for not crediting the photographer? But we should still be mad at the fan artists for not crediting the photo? Photo crediting is an important and nuanced discussion topic, but I do not understand the point of this post?
