As a parent, I never realized *how much* of my adult life would be fighting for the living things in my house to go potty. Dog? Won't touch wet grass. Or go out in dark. Or if there's a little noise. Will hold it out of our spite. Kid? Needs 382715 negotiations before even entering the bathroom.
