Real bookmarks are here! Except they're called Saved Posts! But the icon is still a bookmark! Just ignore that bit! It doesn't look like the Bluesky API lets apps create bookmarks yet, so I can't build a converter to automatically transfer over your DM bookmarks yet... (1/4)

...but you can go through the feed (bsky.app/profile/book...) and bookmark anything in there you want to keep. If it's added to the API soon I'll build a converter. This account and feed will keep working for now, but I'll probably retire them in a few months. I hope it's been helpful! (2/4)

Good news! You can now delete bookmarks to remove them from your bookmarks feed. You'll need to go into your DMs with me, then long-press on the message (on mobile) or hover over it and click the 🙂 icon (on desktop) , then use the 😢 reaction. The bookmark will be removed from your feed instantly.

You can then select 'Delete for me' if you want to remove it from your DM history as well as the feed, but don't do this until you've used the reaction! The bot that runs the feed still sees the DM, as it's only deleted for you - the reaction is what tells it you want it removed from your feed.

Not yet I'm afraid. The cleanest way of doing it (deleting the DM) doesn't work because it only deletes it from your side of the conversation - the feed generator still sees it. I could maybe make it so if you resend the same post with "delete" as the message text it removes it

If you're in the UK but unable or unwilling to verify your age, I'm afraid you won't be able to create new bookmarks. You will still be able to see existing bookmarks in the feed:

That is odd, sorry! Not your fault, I think there are some wonky bits in my code that means occasionally it returns an empty feed. Your bookmarks are always safe, it's just the bit that turns DMs into a feed that can have gremlins

When we get real bookmarks and I build a way to convert your DM bookmarks, anything you've deleted *won't* be converted because that tool will ask you to log in as yourself, so will see the conversation from your side

I'm afraid not - Bluesky only lets you delete DMs for you, but the recipient can still see them. Because the feed is generated from this account's side of the conversation the deleted DMs still show up

If/when real bookmarks are implemented, the tool I write to migrate them won't convert deleted DMs, because it'll ask you to log in as yourself

You can do "Delete from me" in your DMs to remove it from there - unfortunately that won't remove it from the feed though, because that's based on this account's view of the conversation
