FYI, when your former librarian colleague asks, „How could I have known this (vitally important info)?“ she is literally asking, „What system is in place that would have helped me figure this out?“ She’s not just helplessly throwing her hands up.

Why is my San Pellegrino asking me personal questions?
A bottle of San Pellegrino sparkling water shows the question, „What is a guilty pleasure you rarely admit“ in large bold letters on its front label.

Just had my first piano lesson in more than 2 years! I gave it up to save money while I was unemployed and it’s taken me this long to get back. My playing was terrible, but now I’m energized!

Today in work email typos: I am now typing Akk instead of All when I try to sign off with „All the best.“ Frankly, just signing my emails with „Akk!“ seems appropriate for the times, and I’m considering going with it.

Q: How do I know when it’s time to harvest the potatoes? A: When the squirrels start digging them up and leaving them half eaten around the yard, it’s time.
A green glass bowl contains a few large and many small yellow potatoes that still have some garden soil clinging to them.

Furious that Chris Nolan would disregard historical accuracy in adapting The Odyssey by making a "movie" with "cameras" instead of memorizing the entire story and then going on a nationwide tour to sing it to us while tripping on ergotized barley

Here’s a nice little song you can sing to your cats at mealtime (to the tune of Down To The River To Pray): “Oh kitties, let’s go down, come on down, don’t you want to go down. Oh kitties, let’s go down, down to the kitchen to eat.” They *do* in fact usually want to go down to the kitchen to eat.

I’m reading a recent book where the protagonist, a researcher, is avoiding the librarian who’s trying to help him with his project because he thinks he’s an annoying weirdo. The librarian may indeed be an annoying weirdo, but I bet he has the key to the researcher’s project. Ignore at your peril!

Staff retreat at a nature center today. There was a display of different kinds of animal poop in the bathroom.
Different types of animal poop are labeled in a glass display case: raccoon, monarch caterpillar, white-tailed deer fawn, coyote, squirrel, etc.

Graphic with a blue background and large white text reading “DEAR AMERICAN FRIENDS.” Below is a screenshot of a post explaining that Canada does not have CBS, that a “60 Minutes” episode aired normally in Canada, and stating that Canadian networks are not subject to U.S. government interference. The post ends with “We’re not under a dictatorship. You are.”

„The only thing we should fear is that we will surrender our homeland to be plundered by a gang of liars, thieves, and hypocrites. That we will surrender without a fight, voluntarily, our own future and the future of our children .“ Alexei Navalny, Patriot. Where else could this possibly apply?

Reading Alexei Navalny's memoir, Patriot. It's fascinating, funny, inspiring, all the good adjectives, but also completely heartbreaking. I don't know if I can stand to finish it, even though the end won't be a surprise. It hits especially hard since my country is now sliding into authoritarianism.

Wanted to share my thoughts on the announcement that ICE is coming to the Twin Cities.
When Donald Trump calls all Somalis
'garbage, he's talking about:

• The people who run your favorite deli in Minneapolis.
• The nurse who takes care of you at the hospital.
• The home health aide looking after your aging parent.
• The military veteran who served this country.
• Your local and federal elected leaders.

Hardworking patriotic American taxpayers who came to this country legally.I know many of our Somali friends and neighbors are fearful as the Trump Administration threatens ICE raids specifically targeting them in the Twin Cities.
Iurge you to understand your rights, have your documents with you, and seek out help from an immigration attorney if you have specific questions.
The Minneapolis Police Department is urging residents to call gut if you see suspicious activity and masked agents raiding homesto confirm the activity is being conducted by real federal agents.

Until I read HCR‘s post this morning, I wasn’t aware that „underbussing“ was a word. I guess it’s more efficient to say, but I prefer the full phrase „throw X under the bus“ for its explicitness. Am I becoming an Old Fogey?
