A salesperson locked eyes and started the fastest ‘casual walk’. I literally bolted away like it was the 100m finals. He looked flabbergasted. For once, I felt victorious. The draining small talk, the guilt of rejecting them, or ending up with something I don’t need—today I escaped all of it.
