I did not play that expansion, but I think part of it was that all the blizzard corporate stuff happened during that expansion, so people were justifiably less willing to give them slack for, from what I hear, a really sloggy grind of an endgame.

Canada is refusing to issue ISBNs to books primarily generated with AI. This illustrates both the urgency of the problem of the growing flood of slop books, and also the toothlessness of addressing it on the honor system without there also being consequences for lying
Use of artificial intelligence
By registering with ISBN Canada, you declare that your book was created by a human author. You may use AI tools only for limited support tasks, such as brainstorming ideas, checking grammar, or formatting your book. You must not use AI to generate the text, create the artwork, or translate the book. ISBN Canada does not issue ISBNs for works whose content is primarily generated by AI. LAC is currently reviewing its policy regarding the use of AI content creation and our guidance is subject to change.

Watched 'Coyote vs ACME'. Overall, really liked it. Thought there were some mild writing issues in the third act, but nothing that prevents the movie from being enjoyable. My theater was pretty empty, unfortunately. Hopefully that's due to the timing of a Sunday matinee. I'd hate to see it bomb.

Maybe 'Of the Devil'? It's an indie game that is sort of like Phoenix Wright but set in a future dystopia. Also, I am curious if that Big Walk session you showed a clip of was recorded for anyone's channel or if was just a private friend thing. No worries if private.

I will be okay. Not because everything is fine, but because I am surprisingly difficult to destroy. Says Skeletor who notices being hard to destroy sure doesn’t mean a bunch of asshoes don’t keep trying.

“What a beautiful universe, hon" says a telescope as gazes upon an aurora borealis. “It really is”, responds the telescope's partner, who it turns out is not a telescope, but a microscope. Hands full of algae, she wades waist deep in a disgusting swamp, amazed by the heavenly microscopic life all around them.

My favorite Sam Neil fact will always be that he designed a future Australian flag that replaces the union jack with the aboriginal flag for Event Horizon and insisted the film use it.
Screencap of Sam Neil in Event Horizon, his flight suit features an Australian flag with the union jack replaced by a yellow circle on black and red, the Australian aboriginal flag

A good idea, plus if the vod got muted for some reason, maybe only the game track would get muted, preserving streamer comments.

Screenshot of a tumblr post by Sam Reich, host of the game show Game Changer. It is captioned 'Season 1 vs Season 7' and has pictures from both seasons. In the season 1 picture, Sam is revealing to contestants that a lie detector machine was being controlling led by the contestants' significant others. In the season 7 picture, a contestant, Jacob, is asking not to have his blood stolen, again.

If you want stories, I thought Ursula Vernon's Jackalope Wives is a really fun variation on the traditional witch tale, as it's centered on the American southwest. www.apexbookcompany.com/a/blog/apex-...

Not sure if you meant the message or the idea sounded like AI, but it's probably both. I'm pretty sure 'interactive character experiences' is like... chatbots trained on a specific character so you can 'talk' to them.

This is so, so well-articulated.
People call this friction "grunt work." Schwartz uses exactly that phrase, and he's right that LLMs can remove it. What he doesn't say, because he already has decades of hard-won intuition and doesn't need the grunt work anymore, is that for someone who doesn't yet have that intuition, the grunt work is the work. The boring parts and the important parts are tangled together in a way that you can't separate in advance. You don't know which afternoon of debugging was the one that taught you something fundamental about your data until three years later, when you're working on a completely different problem and the insight surfaces. Serendipity doesn't come from efficiency. It comes from spending time in the space where the problem lives, getting your hands dirty, making mistakes that nobody asked you to make and learning things nobody assigned you to learn.

Found an additional graphic that gets even more of these quotes together. I've kept "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" pinned above my desk since I first started studying evolutionary biology as an undergraduate. So relatable to get extremely frustrated with your study system.
Image of Charles Darwin quotes, with the recipient of the letter and the date the letter was written. He said "I hate every wave of the ocean" to W.D. Fox on 15 February 1836, "Oh my God how I do hate species and varieties" to J.D. Hooker in 11 March 1858, "I am very tired, very stomachy, and hate nearly the whole world" to Thomas Huxley on 10 September 1860, "I am very poorly today and very stupid and hate everybody and everything" to Charles Lyell on 1 October 1861, "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" to John Lubbock on 3 September 1862, and "I am languid and bedeviled and hate writing and hate everybody" to J.D. Hooker on 23 June 1863.
