Found some glorious autumn colours just round the corner
The image shows a four-panel grid featuring different fruits and berries: a cluster of blue sloe berries (top-left), yellow-orange firthorn berries on a branch (top-right), golden crab apples (bottom-left), and clusters of rounded, pure white snowberries

For some reason I ended up in a building in Beeston, Nottingham yesterday and found it contained memories of Humber Cycles which were taken over by Raleigh. I took some pics

In Germany lots of big windows have blinds on the outside - see photo. I thought about installing these here during the last heatwave. I should have actually done it! Climate action....

Just saw this at a craft fair and couldn't resist buying it. Sort of self-portrait of me standing my ground.... 😅

I had a patch of purple tulips once which I called 'tulips from Amsterdam', as I had bought the bulbs at the airport, but they were first decapitated by the squirrels and then dug up by the squirrels - total devastation!! This photo is from before that happened.

That inspired the first sentence in an article I wrote on the visualisation of epigenetics but the referees didn't like it (and the rest of the article).
The ways we see the world and the ways we act in the world are shaped by the stories we tell about the world. These stories, in turn, are organised around verbal and visual images. This has been happening since time immemorial, from spiral-shaped petroglyphs to spiral-shaped double helixes. Such stories and images help us understand and deal with abstract, intangible or, indeed, scientific, issues, especially when phenomena are too minute to be observed with the naked eye. They make the unfamiliar familiar, for good or for ill – a dilemma that we explore in this article.

The photo. One big one on the left, two smaller ones on the right. Big one of a tree silhouetted against the lake and the sky. Smaller one of lake with rotting tree trunk in the foreground; another of bare trees illuminated by icy sunshine with little island in the lake in the background.
