An altar
Ink and felt tip drawing of a lop eared bunny person, wearing a flower crown, sideways crescent moon necklace and white nightie. They are stood, arms aloft, in front of a luminious minty green clothed altar, with two lit and dripping candles either side. There is a two handed mug in the centre, with sprigs of spruce behind it.

The whole image is coloured in the bright mint green colour and a rusty pink.

banh-mi good though
pencil sketchbool scribble comic of B in a cafe. He is sat sketching, a lady behind on laptop with headphones saying 'it's some kind of contract from the Portuguese state... well he can have 30% off'. thought bubble from B reads 'what is this lady's job'

then he is sprawled at the counter, a cup and straw in front of him. he is thinking, 'is this a breach of GDP... GDPR... GPDR...? HUNGRY'

next Chris is patting his dead dead self on the head, saying 'no thoughts, head empty, hungry.' a speech bubble in the distance reads SALESFORCE BLABLABLA

the bottom has a crude drawing of a banh-mi in paper bag, it says 'banh'mi good though' which we can all agree with

still workin on next Ismyre book! it has taken me much longer than I wanted (for multiple reasons but especially because it is hard to finish a thing I've spent a long time). hope to share more with the internet though, and big love to @averyhill.bsky.social being the best!
photo of watercolour comics pages from the in progress Ismyre book. The top page is in purple, top panel shows a warthog lady in dungarees yelling from behind bars. Middle panel shows the warthog lady and a small goat person conversing with a police bunny (the goat person is scratching their horns on the bars). Text in the bubbles is pencilled in and unlettered, the bunny cop is saying, "Listen, I've had a long shift, can you leave it out?"

The page below is in earthy tones, showing a cat headed man looking down with a speech bubble that reads, "mm".

out it goes: my long post about Rachel Hope Cleves's claim that Tillie Walden plagiarised her book. It's long because Cleves's claim is much, much more bizarre than it looked on first reading. I'm not going to bury the lede here. Cleves's claim does not hold up. buttondown.com/thene/archiv...
stick a pin in this metaphor

…because these covers are a microcosm of the entire conflict; Walden's book is mostly built on writing and other objects left by Sylvia Drake, Charity Bryant, and others. Her work includes many elements from these records that Cleves does not refer to in her book, and many of her interpretations of those records are different from Cleves's interpretations, often intentionally so. In addition to her historical basis, Walden's book includes fictional dialogue and story elements that are original to her work, some of which are inspired by Walden's own life.

Pencil illustration of two figures lying under a gnarled tree in a field, both in pinstriped trousers, school shirts, braces and ties. On the left is a devil boy with midlength dark hair in a straw boater. He is sleeping, arms folded and feet with dark nails exposed. He leans against the boy next to him, who is sat reading, one leg folded over the other. He is dark skinned with foppish, dark hair and a kind expression. Black ink and marker drawing in orange, purple and blue. On a harlequin pattern rug, with purple curtains behind them, a dog (?) headed person sits on a stool and peruses a long orange scroll (scrawly text visible reads, "shopping list"). They are wearing small orange lense pince nez, purple cropped trousers and a long blue tunic wrapped with orange cord around the waist. Underneath, some sort of purple scaled vest is visible. They hold an orange frog in their opposite hand, who is eyeing the same scroll.
