You don't want to protect or promote women's sports, you just think trans women are men if they want to participate alongside cisgender women. That's what these columns boil down to. They are transphobic, they are rooted in the belief that no matter what we do for transitioning it will never fully make us women and for that we should not have access to spaces that the general public uses without a second thought. You can tell me how valid you think I am until the cows come home, but you are calling me a man.

The latest in how sports jouranlism is changing in this world of legal and accessible gambling. From a story in The Athletic about why the Chiefs still may be the best team in the NFL despite being 5-4. Betting odds. The central piece of data in this piece is betting odds.

But here’s the crazy part about this season, as the Chiefs enter their bye week at 5-4 and two games behind the Denver Broncos in the AFC West: They’re better than they were last year, and probably the best team in the NFL.

That isn’t based on speculation; it’s based on the bookies. The Chiefs, according to sportsbook Power Rankings, entered Week 9 projected to be favored by two points over any other team on a neutral field. It’s part of the reason KC was a 2.5-point road favorite over Buffalo on Sunday — and also remained as BetMGM’s betting favorite to win the Super Bowl even after losing.

What's weird are these three quotes. They are attributed to a "union source" meaning the NFLPLA. The quotes are fine. In fact, they feel like the kind of generic PR statements you'd expect right? Here's what's bugging me: Why is the source given anonymity? (2/)

"The NFLPA has conveyed its concern to the NFL and will work to ensure that players are not put in that position going forward," the source said Wednesday.

"Players prefer grass fields, but all grass surfaces aren't equal," the source told ESPN. "The conditions at Acrisure Stadium underscore why players have pushed for high-quality grass fields, and why the NFLPA continues to push for improved, shared maintenance practices of grass fields across the league."

"Players deserve to have the safest and highest-quality places of work," the NFLPA source said. "The NFLPA is advocating to establish better league-wide standards and pushing the NFL for more surface-specific data in order to ensure that our members are playing on the best possible field surfaces, no matter if it's grass or turf."
