Vittoria should be embarrassed at how he handled this entire docket. He seemingly FORGOT how trivial it is to convert a habeas to a new bail review, spoke over the interpreter, and interrogated counsel about his client's immigration status. And the whole time he can't even get his speakers working 🤡

Case 5 wasn't called, and Cases 6 and 7 had been nolle pros'd already and were mooted. Hold your families close tonight and be grateful you can sleep under the same roof as your babies. The powers that be in this city do not recognize that as a right or even a basic human good.

Case 4 cont'd: the young man addresses the judge and asks to go home while awaiting trial to continue providing and caring for his kids, Judge Vittoria once again uses his discretion to continue to harm a family by keeping them separated when multiple other options exist, orders HWOB.

Case 4 cont'd: Pretrial recommends ROR. ASA Corbin recites the demonstrably fictional cop tales, asks for HWOB because apparently the practice of Ivan Bates's SAO is to be HWOB robots just like the office was under his predecessor. And just like these judges are. This whole thing is theater.

Case 4 cont'd: None of the items recovered from the house were found in the basement that this family rents, and no one in this family even had keys to any part of the house other than the basement. The statement of probable cause is written to attempt to obscure this.

Case 4: yet another young father, who is both the primary financial provider and primary caretaker for his children. They live in the SEPARATE basement of a house, the upstairs of which houses several other people. This is relevant because the raid is extremely questionable.

Pretrial recommends HWOB. The young man addresses the judge, asks to go home while he awaits trial, so he can help his partner care for their child, notes he has completed drug treatment and has not been in trouble. Judge Vittoria declines to do what's right for this family, orders HWOB.

Case 3: another young father who needs medical services. He also has a child with special needs, and currently the mom is caring for that child alone and needs the dad home. The ID in this case is sketchy and there was more than one person involved. ASA Corbin recites cop tales, wants HWOB.

Case 2 cont'd: Judge Vittoria speechifies for a bit and orders HWOB.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Case 2: a young father of a baby who is needed home to help care for the child. Strong family & community ties. He's charged in connection with an incident where he was assaulted by a stranger. ASA Vessio recites cop tales, asks for HWOB, pretrial recommends HWOB.

Case 1 cont'd: judge orders home detention, 24/7 lockdown except court appearances and medical emergencies.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Case 1 cont'd: defense atty explains that at the time of the district court bail review, the dist ct judge wasn't aware of exculpatory evidence. Also incident he's charged in was in Feb, warrant wasn't served until now, no issues in the interim. Pretrial recommends home detention. State wants HWOB.

Case 1: a young man who was receiving treatment in a medical facility when a warrant was served on him in the facility. He has strong family ties with supporters present for the hearing. At least some of the charges in this matter are set to be nolle pros'ed.

the Cornell case should make us question prosecutors and police all the time: the same DA offices discounting college students’ sexual assault cases (the lacking investigations, the disbelief) are happy to jail countless women for far less, day in and day out, when most people aren’t watching

That’s the end of today’s docket. While we observe every circuit court bail hearing every Tuesday & Friday, it’s been a challenge this year to keep up the posting side of things. But we are aiming to be back here on Tuesday with another thread. Sleep well, unless you’re a cop (ASAs very included).

Case 7: father of a young child. There are inconsistencies in the complaining witness statement, which even a cop noted. ASA Render alludes to the “difficulties” state will face in a jury trial but asks for HWOB anyway. Pretrial concurs, Ausby orders HWOB.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Case 6 cont’d: pretrial rec is home detention, which Ausby grants.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Case 6: another medically vulnerable young man who has previously been the victim of violence. Being held in jail in a case involving an altercation where he was not the aggressor. Health is in danger in the jail. ASA Steiner says this isn’t the place to litigate. LOL. State defers to the court.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Case 5: a young father of little kids. He is medically vulnerable. There seems to be…basically no evidence that any crime occurred at all? ASA Bassett (maybe trying to earn back some sleep) concedes there are inconsistencies and CCTV shows nothing. Agrees to release, Ausby orders ROR.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Case 4 cont’d: ASA Bassett parrots cop tales, seeks HWOB (and continues seeking to deserve the world’s worst sleep). Ausby orders home detention.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Case 4: a widow in his 70s with medical problems who was arrested and charged with possessing items found in a raid on a house he was staying in, including guns that were all lawfully registered to another occupant and were not found in this man’s living space. Pretrial absurdly recommends HWOB.
130
Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Case 3 cont’d: home detention condition is she can only leave for medical appointments. Home detention is a form of incarceration and in this case it is particularly obscene.
141
Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Case 3: a sexual assault victim who was arrested after fleeing her assailants, whose tales form the basis of the state’s case, presented by ASA Bassett, who demands HWOB and we hope is having the world’s worst sleep tonight. Pretrial rec is home detention, which Ausby grants.
131
Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Pretrial rec is HWOB due to “out of state ties.” (Editor’s note: by this standard everyone we know should be HWOB?) ASA Render recites cop tales and asks for HWOB, which Ausby grants.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Case 2: a habeas petition for a man whose charges have been reduced while awaiting trial but he is still in jail. Denies the charges and asserts codefendant acted alone. Strong family and community ties w/ supporters present for hearing. Requests home detention so he can resume working.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Case 1 cont’d: video shows this person was injured in the incident in which they were charged, and items “recovered” were not actually found on them. Pretrial recommends home detention. ASA Didion recites cop tales, demands HWOB. Ausby grants home detention.

Case 1: the parent of a young child who needs to be released pretrial so as to hold onto the job that supports the family. Two close relatives have died recently and the parent has already missed one of the funerals. Requests home detention.

On 1/27/26, Baltimore City Circuit Court was closed due to inclement weather. This did not stop the detainees inside from feeling the affects of the snow and ice storm despite their hearings being cancelled.

Case 1: Judge DiPietro claimed this case was called multiple times but it was not. This hearing is to modify the terms of home detention. ASA Migdal is not opposed. Pretrial does not make a recommendation. Judge DiPietro grants the modification.

Good morning. This is the thread for Friday, January 23 2026’s bail review docket in Baltimore City Circuit Court. Judge DiPietro presided and started with the standard do not record statement.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 21/01/2026
That was the docket for today. We’ve got the same message as yesterday: Wear a mask, protect your neighbors, resist the state, free them all.

Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 21/01/2026
Case 2: Postponed because the person is not able to be located in jail. Because the jail cannot do their job and bring someone to their hearing, this person will sit in jail for even longer- when again, they are legally presumed innocent.
120
Baltimore Courtwatch @bmorecourtwatch.bsky.social · 21/01/2026
This means that according to the State, Pretrial and Judge DiPietro, compulsory schooling through 12th grade is only compulsory if you don’t have charges against you, despite being legally innocent.

This man and his wife lost their home because they couldn't afford it while he was in jail. Now, it is great this father is going home. However, he still has to pay for home detention without being permitted to work.
