Finally finished the 079 Mobile Suit Gundam series and I well and truly know what the fuss is about now. It’s a show about the horror and pointlessness of war delivered via the medium of awesome giant robots, with literal decades of legacy that can’t be matched. On to Zeta Gundam now I think!

The original 30s Conan stories aren’t too dated apart from a couple of very specific ways. E.g. according to Howard woman in that world have three jobs: - Sexy helpless captive - Sexy evil sorceress - Old lady The other way is how he deals with race and ho boy I’m not even going to touch that

Visited a Victorian-era (1883) steam pumping station in action today. The two pumps are 4 stories tall and being in there is like being in a beating heart and a cathedral all at once. Warm, ornate, and comfortingly noisy at the same time. It’s powered by 6 of those furnaces #photography

Trying to work out the temple robes was a whole lot of trial and error, as was coming up with a background that didn’t look ass. Drawing an alien was a fun new challenge, but I’m happy with how the old Duros came out. The anime-style subtitles were a bit of whimsy lol

My favourite thing about watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam is the humanisation of the Zeon forces. Even the grunts have their own personalities and commanders care about the rank and file. Really emphasises how shit the war is

I’ve finally seen Project Hail Mary and it’s definitely worth the hype. It’s been so long since a blockbuster release had me laugh, cry, and had me glued to the screen like this. I love the science, the set-up, and how Grace ended up where he is (and why that’s really the best thing for him) 10/10

I've had to unfriend a few fans lately, all for the same reason. They made ridiculing, unkind, and in some cases outright cruel comments about pictures I posted of young women cosplaying Jessica.
More than a person, Jessica is a state of mind. To play Jessica, you need self -confidence, a sense of humor, and a Jessican -attitude-. There is no such thing as a Jessica cosplayer being too short, too flat chested, too heavy, too thin, too unattractive, too black, too Asian, or even too male!!! All Jessica, any Jessica, every Jessica is good Jessica.
