The first year I won’t be on team kpop 👀

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 26/10/2025

I moved from pinboard to raindrop.io a few years ago, but it’s not a 1 to 1 equivalent. Maybe worth looking at? If you don’t mind paying a little, and a little setup (the equivalent of installing a desktop program) though, linkding hosted with something like pikapods.com is very similar to pinboard

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 26/10/2025

That makes sense! I’ll have to try again. Thank you!

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 24/10/2025

@katproto.girlonthemoon.xyz I saw you mention graze (on the my pds feed; this pds is so great!! 💕) and was just wondering - have you had good luck with it? I tried to use it twice but it just doesn’t do anything at all (won’t even load a preview) so I was wondering if I’m missing something obvious 😭

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 23/10/2025

Sending you all the good wishes 💜💚💛💜🍀

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 16/10/2025

Hopefully you feel better soon!

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 07/10/2025

Gotta do it the hard way or it doesn’t count! (Or sometimes you’re too far into something and idk sunk-cost something something “anyway I’m doing it this way!!!!”) Good luck!

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 07/10/2025

Take advantage of it whatever it is! 😂

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 04/10/2025

right? It’s the plotting about teams time 😂

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 04/10/2025

They’re really fun! (I have a friend who sends me fun bits)

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 02/10/2025

Not sure what the response would be, but if you comment to ask, some people might be open to linking a gdrive or something/might not have thought about the fact that not everyone can stream. Anyway, sorry for the long response!!

alternatively, I haven’t tried it for podfic/podcasts but there are sites you can search for downloading from Spotify but they’re pretty transient and don’t work for everything. There’s always line in to audacity (maybe obs would be better?) or a mic? But that’s the extremely painful approach 😬

If someone is using Spotify as a podcast for podfic (I think this is more common but I’m not sure) you could try a tool like www.get-rss.com or anything that will try to get the RSS feed for a podcast. Then you can load that into a desktop podcast client and download the episodes.

Looking at the list of non-fic books I've read this year, I'm feeling very amused, because my 62 books so far reads like my own little "one of these things is not like the others" game. 😂

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 15/07/2025

Oh yeah that’s a lot! A happy medium sounds great in this case, since it could sort of bridge both ages

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 15/07/2025

Very unhelpfully, I’d say whichever you feel more happy about doing? And more comfortable in your voice? Even if you end up going with something less high, you could try to idk loosen your mouth or something to try to channel that kid lilt/lightness that some kids have

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 25/06/2025

That’s so disappointing 😢 hopefully it arrives soon!

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 25/06/2025

It really is glorious 🎉

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 20/06/2025

Good luck with whatever you’re planning! (And if you happen to need or want a link to the podfic server, I’m happy to share) There’s also a podfic community on tumblr www.tumblr.com/communities/...

Here’s a helpful rundown! archiveofourown.org/works/27240112 Everyone has their preferences; I’d personally say that a combo of internet archive (one of the most popular) & audiofic archive is pretty robust (as in, use internet archive, then submit to audiofic archive as a mirror)

I’m glad I suggested it! I was surprised how well recording lying down worked, so I hope whatever setup you end up using works well for you!

but I have my mic positioned hanging above my head with a mic arm clamped to the window sill. So, again, it may not work for you, but I though it might be vaguely useful since it was originally partially to try out recording while lying down.

using a goose neck arm clamped to my bed table to hold the phone with the text. I don’t know if this would be an option with your current set-up (possibly not) or if recording in bed or something like that would be an option,

(I’m sorry for jumping in here; just happened to see this [the siren song of podfic], so completely just ignore me you prefer!) I always record in bed, and for a while even experimented with a set-up that would let me record while lying down completely,

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 29/05/2025

Exactly! A different kind of experiment than posting different fics on ao3 around the same time, but still really interesting to see the results.

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 28/05/2025

This was really interesting! Thank you for sharing these results. I remember that I had plans many years back to write the same fic as m/m on ao3 and m/f (f being an oc) on aff and compare results, but I never actually got anywhere with the project, unfortunately.

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 24/05/2025

…in the five months since I posted that, I have ✨acquired✨ five more domains. All for very good reasons, I insist!

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 24/05/2025

Embarrassingly, I don’t have the best track record with completing bingos 😅 but this looks really neat!

070

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 24/04/2025

Full bingo! (I feel like I ran a marathon 😂)

040

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 24/01/2025

Oh nice, I’m glad!!

000

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 18/12/2024

Yes, exactly 🤦 the idea always seems so logical and necessary at the time!

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 18/12/2024

The kind of poor choices mood where you emerge from a (not-really) fugue state an hour or two later with two new domains. …if I post about it, I won’t actually do it, right?

290

I hope you have lots of fun!

It definitely helps! I think last round was probably my last “full” fic 😅

Cheers for the podfic label and exciting feeds! 🎉

080

You should do it! 🎉

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 06/12/2024

I just realized that the first time I participated was ten years ago 👀 Anyway, a really fun kpop fic writing challenge/event with teams and mv fun 💕 and an interesting answer to “what are some different ways that that the same prompt can be interpreted?”

162

Good luck and I hope you find something you enjoy! If you have some writers you like, a quick shortcut to see if there are any podfics of their fic is to check their related works page: (replace USERNAME with their username) archiveofourown.org/users/USERNA...

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 05/12/2024

We (podficcers in general) are still around, and growing! But it’s true that it really varies by fandom, so I’m sorry that your current ones aren’t as podficced. There’s a twice yearly event coming up ( @voiceteam.bsky.social ) that usually results in a huge influx of new podfics, so maybe!

ice cream @bluedream.ing · 05/12/2024

If you’re looking for kpop (bts?) podfics, story preferences and narrator preferences differ of course but there’s definitely a group of active kpop podficcers. kpop-podfic.carrd.co (the ao3 is probably the most updated?)

Labellers on Bluesky have a wide variety of uses! (Well outside the default/assumed ones.) If you have a GitHub account already or might consider creating one (do you save or share workskins? fannish scripts? some people even host podfic 👀) look into the issue linked here and consider upvoting it!

I really love it! Spotify and streaming in general is so nebulous, so getting something tangible to represent the year (or at least, that musical subsection) is really nice.
