As of 5:00pm, there have been 22,337 votes in Providence. This is 2k more votes than the 2022 primary and around 2018’s turnout. With many folks getting out of work, there are still many expected votes to be cast by 8:00 pm. This kind of turnout is a great sign for Morales #Providence #RI #election

Worth noting that Providence had 3 candidates for Mayor in 2022, where Smiley got the plurality of votes around 42%. The other two combined candidates got ~58%. With only one challenger to Smiley, we very well could see the first time in PVD’s history that a sitting mayor loses their seat.

In 2022, 20,673 people voted for mayor in PVD. I think we could hit 25k if this trend continues. There are 88,894 registered voters and any increase over the 21k voters by 8pm would be a very promising sign for David Morales. Right now as of 1pm PVD has 17k votes in. #providence #DavidMorales

Federal minimum wage hasn’t been raised since 2009. If the original minimum wage from the 1960’s were in place today our federal minimum wage would be ~$25, which is $10 greater than Massachusetts’ minimum wage

Our taxpayer dollars are being used to kidnap children and murder legal observers. ICE refused CPR being performed when the legal observer was shot while simply trying to leave. ICE is an existential threat to our communities and the largest terrorist organization in the US.

It’s outrageous how routine violent takeovers of foreign countries happen for corporate profit. The US destroys societies and replaces them with chaos for the sake of enriching a couple thousand people. Billions suffer for the gains of so few individuals. Imperial violence is terrorism.

It’s revealing that NYT and WaPo deliberately withheld information from the public about this illegal invasion that killed ~100 civilians in Venezuela. Oil companies knew before politicians. Fascism is the merger of corporate and state power. We prioritize oil over our shared humanity.

2/3 of Americans live paycheck to paycheck: We have a billionaire pedophile protecting administration kidnapping our neighbors, enabling genocide, bombing civilians and illegally capturing elected leaders to control oil, a resource we know is actively destroying our present and future.

An important perspective that is missing from the illegal firings of federal employees is that we already had less federal employees pre-DOGE than we had in the 1990s (despite the population growing by over 80 million in the last 3 decades. We already have 1/2 million less employees in 2024 than ‘94

Schumer and Jeffries have abdicated responsibility for this moment (and many others). They are acting like Trump’s mandate is Reagan’s 2nd term. Less than 50% of the popular vote and one of the most narrow controls of both chambers in U.S.

Detaining and trying to deport a permanent resident speaking up against our schools’ complicity in genocide is bleak, violent and tyrannical. Tinker v. Des Moines plainly stated that we do not shed our rights at the schoolhouse gate. Both parties are enabling these student disappearances. Depraved.

The Democratic Party is clearly not interested in meaningful opposition. They are acting like Trump’s win was Reagan’s 2nd Term, Trump didn’t breach 50% of the vote, and this is one of the most narrow house/senate shifts for a presidential election. This is complicity in fascism.

Section 504 provides life saving and affirming support for the Disability community whether that is free access to public education (FAPE), and housing protections. This predates ADA and IDEA. 25% of the country has a disability. Trump’s admin & sycophants are engaging in eugenics.

My issue with DOGE is that those with institutional power act as if gov’t spending on meeting our most basic needs (food, shelter, belonging) is wasteful. Yet there is no institutional challenge to fund ~$1 Trillion to the military, and billions to imprison immigrants. That is truly wasteful—

This is gutting Medicaid (FY23 budget was $880Bn). This is unquestionably a death sentence for our neighbors. Roughly 80 million people have Medicaid or about a 1/4th of the entire US population rely on it as a literal lifeline. This is social murder yet entirely legally permissible.

Trump’s “proposal” for Gaza is nothing less than the deliberate ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people from their land. The US continues to aid and support genocide. This is untenable, unconscionable, cruel, violent, and dehumanizing. We devalue our humanity when we deny Palestinians’ humanity.
