WIP Weds from the Space AU again: I meant it when I said I was throwing in all my favorite stuff

«Why do you even know this stuff?»

«I have an aunt,» Jongho says, in a way that doesn’t invite follow-up questions. «Listen. I know they never gave you any training, but you get feelings, don’t you? You’ve always just thought you had really good instincts? Sometimes you just know something?»

Wooyoung swallows. He sits up straighter. He’d been lounging in the windowseat of his quarters, letting the stars blur out of focus as he talked to Jongho, but now he pushes himself up into a proper meditation seat and faces the window head on. It doesn’t actually do anything to increase his range or receptivity, but it always feels like it should, and he feels the sudden need to focus all of his attention on what Jongho is going to say next. «Yes. I do.»

«Well, at some point in your life, you met someone, for even the briefest moment, who your ability has now identified as your… Ugh, all the ways to describe this sound so stupid.»

«My what?» Wooyoung leans forward, as if he could leap across all the space between them. He reminds himself to breathe.

«It’s not your soulmate, no matter what Institute gossip likes to call it, but it is a person your ability can see is going to be important in your life, probably very soon. You’re getting positive feelings from the dreams, so it could very well be love in this case,» he grudgingly allows, «but it could also be a life-defining friendship.»

Busan has a new resident named Bukangi, a shark who started chilling in the canals near the train station a couple weeks ago. The city has been trying all sorts of schemes to gently lead her back to the ocean but she foils every attempt and swims back and forth being admired by crowds of fans.

More from the space AU

Sometimes, Wooyoung entertains himself with thoughts of how similar his job is to that of a historical telegraph operator. He’d written a paper about it once at the Institute; his instructor had not enjoyed the comparison as much as he felt it deserved. But he’s right! It’s funny that the most efficient form of long-distance communication through space now is once again a chain of relay stations passing messages back and forth. The fact they’re telepathic messages instead of dots and dashes is a minor difference, in the grand scheme of things.

Really, though, being a Relay is more glamorous, or at least more prestigious, than his self-deprecation makes it sound. Even amongst telepaths, not many can meet the standards for crystal-clear and perfectly accurate sending and receiving, let alone over the sheer distances he can. (His older brother had snorted when his test results came back and said, “Of course you’d be good at yelling.” Wooyoung’s rather loud response hadn’t done much to disprove his observation.)

The Shades of Light sampler, possibly my favourite design to date, was finished #OTD in 2023. #Blackwork #embroidery on 14-count Aida. Pattern here: bit.ly/3VeTYRu

A photo of a blackwork embroidery sampler on black cloth. It consists of 12 inner sections shaped like thin diamonds, and 12 outer sections in larger diamond shapes, arranged to form a circular starburst. Each section is filled with a repetitive geometric motif stitched in white and coloured thread. The threads in each section overlap to form a gradient between white at the inner point of the diamond and a colour at the outer point. The colours are arranged to form a colour wheel. Each section is outlined in white thread.

Chocolate-Coated Churro ૮・ﻌ・ა ~ Yunho-centric Polyteez ~ Magic | Hurt/Comfort | Found Family | E ~ 9/9 Complete - 171,000 words archiveofourown.org/works/66559357

moodboard for Chocolate-Coated Churro feat. 4 photos of various sea stacks and a screenshot of the fic summary in the middle that states the following:

Cursed to stay a dog by a jealous ex for being ‘too charming’ and flirtatious, Yunho went in search of a witch or coven capable of helping him out. But when he’s run off from yet another witches cottage, he stumbles all four feet and falls off the side of a small cliff.

Injured, muddy, and so tired, he pushes on toward the coast where a rumored coven full of dangerous magic users hold sway over the ocean herself.

Leagues from everything he’s ever known, Yunho just wants his hands back and maybe a new place to call home.

photo of yunho looking out at the sea just before sunset. his back is to the camera in silhouette as he stands on a rocky outcropping

final chapter 9 snippet:

He could feel her now, mere moments away from reaching the day's peak, radiating a boundless sort of energy that threatened to engulf him whole. She was excited, both for him and for herself, both on the precipice of transformation. For her it was blossoming into the life bringer of spring, continuing to lengthen the days and provide nourishment for all those under her care.

For him it was tying himself, body and soul, to a coven that would unquestioningly change him. By the nature of how magic gained power, any coven Yunho bonded with would've enhanced his natural abilities, but choosing to do so here, on this beach, in this bay filled with ancient magic, whatever Yunho was about to go through had the potential to be monumental.

The baksu arrives twenty minutes after Mingi breaks his last claw on the paper chain and slumps down on the ground in a defeated heap.

“Oh,” he says. He's looking down at Mingi with an expression of mild distaste. There is a bone knife dangling from his right hand, and Mingi can smell the lightning-zap stink of charm paper somewhere hidden in his sensible rain jacket.

What a stupid way to die, Mingi thinks. His entire face feels sticky with snot.

“You’re not a garbage sprite,” the baksu points out unhelpfully.

The bookblock shifted a bit without me noticing when I was gluing the cover to one side, so on the _other_ side the page has to fold in on itself a little for the book to close :/ but! It was a good learning experience, which was the whole point!

Side view of a book, showing how the first page was glued too far down the cover, so it folds in on itself a little when the book is closed
