Azeen's coverage included the sympathetic profile of Jamie Reed, the so-called whistleblower who lied about healthcare for trans youth in Missouri and who Azeen's own reporting uncovered as a liar, although Azeen massively downplayed the lying. Journalistic malpractice.

I believe, not without evidence, that leadership at the New York Times made deliberate editorial decisions to bolster transphobic hand-wringing in an effort to broaden its market reach, temper its liberal reputation, and curry favor with the current administration. These numbers lend credence.

I admire Scott in some ways, but I also see from this interview how an old-school journalistic obsession with "both sides" helped pave the way for his (still unjust) termination. He was so naive giving Ellison and Weiss the benefit of the doubt, for example. Didn't even know who Weiss was 😂

The entire anti-trans care grift is built in treating the usual way medicine works as if it's a scandal. Therapists figure out if a kid is trans the same way they figure out if they're depressed. They ask questions, maybe using a formal scale to quantify how kids compare to similar kids.
