Incised into a reindeer foot-bone presumably some 15,000 years ago, this engraving represents two hinds. The realistic rendering of the drawing is truly amazing! Found in the Grotte de Chaffaud/France. 📷 RMN-GP. Jean-Gilles 🏺#archaeology
The engraving shows two hind on a flattened bone fragment. Their bodies are rendered in profile with carefully incised fur and branching ears. The hind one the left is more complete, while the second appears partly interrupted by cracks and missing sections of the bone.
