You could say that Rock n Roll was born 111 years ago today in Arkansas, but probably not where you'd think. Before there was a Chuck Berry or Little Richard, there was those who wanted to be like her. Rosetta Nubin better known as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the godmother of Rock was born on this day

Why would anyone write a 117-word long prompt to an “AI” when they could just launch Filelight and get the answer?

Using “AI” to manage your Fedora system seems like a really bad idea – OSnews

I'm glad that the developers of #ZFS made it easy to replace a faulted disk with a fresh one, without data loss or downtime. In a few hours, this should switch from DEGRADED back to ONLINE.

The Hammer Films “Dracula” series with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing is also a kind of horror version of “Blackadder".

Update: this session’s school library book ban bill- SB 13 - has been added to the calendar for Monday. 😩 Keep calling your reps to urge them to run out the clock on this horrible bill. If this passes, we will not be able to undo the harm done to TX public school libraries.

All I can hear is the wind through the Yankees’ many WS championship trophies. 😉

Nowadays, Linux distros like Fedora have much easier installers: youtu.be/ugeKDH8odjU

Slackware was the first Linux distro I ever set eyes upon, in a CS major’s dorm room in late 1995/early 1996. It was the coolest thing I’d ever seen, but it looks like the install is still pretty difficult. youtu.be/U-deSop2yac

TBH, I’m scared to use social media like Bsky, after seeing what happens to social spaces online: the signal of easy communication gets drowned beneath the noise of advertisements, and now everything is being scraped and analyzed for ever-more detailed ad profiles. How do people still do this?

Is your work available in big ordering systems like Baker & Taylor? I'd love to add your stuff to my library's collection.

I quite liked it, too. Did it make you want to watch "The Larry Sanders Show" or "Fernwood Tonight", too?

The problem I have with putting effort into almost any social media platform anymore is that the cycle of #enshittification will follow every single one. It’s free now because it’s trying to get me so hooked that when it sucks later, it’s hard to leave
