We’re reading WATCHMEN for The Stacks Book Club this month. I’d never read it before. So this week I read it and watched the HBO series (again) and now it’s the only thing I want to think about. It’s my whole personality.

I met up with a friend for lunch and to talk about books, and yes, 10/10 recommend.

Anyone who thinks killing affirmative action will stop racists from questioning the merit of black achievements has really not been paying attention.

It’s genuinely funny how, entirely because of Elon’s unforced error, BlueSky went from being study hall to happy hour.

It's like when your old favorite club has a shooting, or some racist incident where a security guard keeps out a group of black dudes for wearing Jordans. Yeah, we had some *great* times there but it's time to move on and find somewhere else to hang out. Guess this might be the new hangout.

I didn’t think doing this would cause me so much anxiety. I think once the shows start happening I’ll love it, but this waiting is too much.

Self-promotion makes me feel so uncomfortable. I hate that I have to do it, but the truth is as a Black woman indie podcaster in books, I have no choice. It makes me a little sad.

That JJ Redick clip is 100% spot on. I’m gonna just say it, this whole Ja stuff ain’t about guns, it’s about race and punishment. It’s about keeping young cocky Black boys in their place.

I got to talk with kid lit superstar Vashti Harrison about her new picture book BIG. It’s about the adultification of Black girls and the power of words and it gave me chills. Here’s that episode of The Stacks. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-s…

A new book from @prisonculture.bsky.social is out in the world. It’s about how we organize, and sustain activism. We need this. bookshop.org/a/3111/9781642598278

I just got asked for books about dudes “living their lives, climbing the corporate ladder, falling in love, fucking up their marriages” basically the make equivalent to (the hated genre) chick-lit. Y’all have any recs? I’m drawing a blank.
