I had a great time speaking with my dear Mostafa at NSSpain about our migration to Bazel. We loved seeing how much interest it sparked and how many questions came in, so we wanted to share our answers here.

This is how mav goto and jev work together. >50% faster iOS app navigation. Try it now, I’m pushing and releasing while I build. github.com/bitomule/mav

Not sure why the safe area is claiming so much space, but I’m getting closer. Wish I could afford an iPhone Duo to test this properly, maybe one day. 😂

Like half of my timeline, I started poking at Jev on Friday. Plenty of people have already explained what it is and done it better than I would, so I'll skip that and go straight to my experience. First, cost, after 2 days of hardcore playing with jev I spent so far: 40 cents.

Let's start the app season early. I have been working on something different, my first developer tool. This one is not big but solves one problem: GitHub issues in iOS. Try it free! apps.apple.com/app/id67896...

New update for HiddenFace is almost done, and this one will be fun 🎉. I’m adding custom masks 🎭 and an editor, so now you can create your own masks and use them to cover whatever you want ✨.

I'm always testing different agent harnesses, but I can't afford paying all the models and services. For some weeks I tested codex but had to be honest with myself: I get more work done with claude. Still there's one codex feature I really needed: automations. So I built it!

New Undolly 4.1 shipped with some fixes and a new option to do analysis in data ranges. Want to review similar photos just from last year? Now it's possible. Clean WhatsApp photos from that crazy weekend? Possible. I love building based on users' feedback/ideas.

Agents changing iOS code is not the hard part anymore. The hard part is giving them a reliable way to open the app, inspect the UI, tap, wait, capture logs/screenshots/video/crashes, and hand back a report you can review. That is why I built MAV. blog.bitomule.com/posts/intro...
010
David @bitomule.bsky.social · 18/05/2026
Yesterday I shared mav. I have been thinking a lot about validation: making sure changes satisfy a given rule like tests passing.I tried everything but it still required manual intervention from me. That did not scale.

AI coding agents don’t fail because they write bad code. They fail because they can ship “good enough” before you’ve done the thinking that would make you better. I wrote about why learning to program still matters, even when an agent can do it for you: blog.bitomule.com/posts/learn...

AI agents make code easier to produce, but not engineering easier to learn. The work that builds judgment has to be protected on purpose now.

Tiny UX detail, big user impact: Boxy now makes Family Sharing clearer before checkout. If you’re organizing a move with someone else, the last thing you need is subscription confusion on top of cardboard chaos 📦

Lately I am thinking a lot, and talking with many people, about how LLMs changed software engineering. My current take: code is no longer the bottleneck. Validation is. Trying to revive my blog for the 13421498th time to think in public: blog.bitomule.com/posts/code-...

Code is no longer the bottleneck | Bitomule's learning shack
AI agents did not remove the bottleneck. They moved it from writing code to validating what is worth shipping.

Duplicate photo cleanup sounds simple until you hit the messy parts: zoomed screenshots, tiny gestures, edge cases everywhere. I'm tightening Undolly so deleting clutter feels calmer.
000
David @bitomule.bsky.social · 15/04/2026
Undolly is getting much better at surviving messy real-world photo libraries. Long scans now keep moving, recover better, and show progress in real time, so cleaning duplicates feels less like a gamble and more like a quick win ✨

I see a lot of people trying to make Xcode faster or moving to Tuist. Oh lord, the day you discover Bazel. I use it in every project, even in small personal ones. Far more agent-friendly, easy, and fast.

Just added 4 new smart suggestions to Undolly 🔍 Now it automatically finds your old WhatsApp media, RAW photos, and slo-mo videos that eat up storage. The app keeps learning which duplicates annoy users most.

Added tap-to-edit bulk mode to HiddenFace. Select 20 photos → tap faces you want to blur → done. Simple as it should be. 📸

Added a 3-day free trial to Undolly. Figured people need time to actually see their storage freed up before committing. Sometimes the best conversion optimization is just... being reasonable 🤷‍♂️

Redesigning App Store screenshots for three apps this week. You're not just building features; you're also your own marketing team, and I’m terrible at it. Using Koubou and Claude makes it far easier.
