I'm a man of many interests, but mostly I'm here for the birds. All photos (except reposts) were taken by me. Most of my birding (so far) has been done in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin is brighter than the sun on this map, which is great for birders here!

Another half billion bird night, with the approaching nor’easter visible as a blank area on the BirdCast map. Always a possibility of coastal birds coming inland with a storm like this. #birds #fall #migration #LightsOutForBirds

I was there last month! Fun fact: I spotted my first Mourning Warbler by the small creek not far from Claire d' Loon. 🐦

Awesome event! Not only did we get to watch the "swiftnado" of birds head into their roost, but we also were treated to a flyover by an osprey carrying a fish. And it was great to see some of my birding friends there, too! 🪶

While on vacation in the Wisconsin Northwoods and Michigan's U.P. this past week, I finally saw my first Mourning Warbler! Also got my closest-ever look at a Golden Eagle, which was perched atop a tree along a rural road. 🐦 #birding

Had fun at the Madison Night Market last night. Good food from Sandwich Hub, great music from Secret Menu, and cool conversation about birding with the women manning the booth outside the Orpheum Theater (randomly started because one of them noticed my whole family was wearing bird shirts).

Hat's off to staff and volunteers who installed bird dots on the windows of the polar bear enclosure at Henry Vilas Zoo yesterday. It was certainly something different we got to see happening at the zoo during that visit! ⚪ ⚪ ⚪ ⚪ ⚪ ⚪

I haven't seen many hummingbirds this year. I wonder if there's less of them around here this summer, or if it's just me.

You know what's really awesome? When a lifer comes to you. Yesterday I was leaving a hotel in central Illinois and a freakin' FISH CROW was sitting on a nearby utility wire, making plenty of noise so I could run Merlin to verify it wasn't just an American Crow making weird sounds. Huzzah! 🐦‍⬛ #birding

Anyone ever go #birding at Funks Grove in Illinois? I'm planning to drive the stretch of Route 66 that goes through there in the near future and am wondering if it's worth stopping there for a look-see. 🐦

Although it was a bit warmer than I prefer, it was a beautiful day to be outdoors today. I spent the morning birding in nearby McFarland (saw six FOYs) and planted a new tree in our backyard late this afternoon. Now it's time to just relax for awhile.

It's times like this I miss being able to watch NASA TV on Dish. I would've turned it on periodically throughout the week and pretty much all day today. But NASA went online-only with the channel last fall, and now I never watch it because I prefer a TV screen to a phone or computer. #OldManPost 🚀
