jobs.nottingham.ac.uk/vacancy.aspx... We are recruiting a PDRA to study root–soil interactions at molecular scale. The project combines plant signalling, soil physics, and spatial omics to understand how roots sense soil hardness. #UKRI #PDRA #PostdocJobs #PlantScience #Rootsoil #SingleCell

Ethylene modulates cell wall mechanics for root responses to compaction
Nature - Soil compaction traps ethylene around roots, which causes transcriptional upregulation of Auxin Response Factor1, resulting in decreased root cortical cell wall thickness and thereby...

I'm so very excited to see this out - a single cell and spatial transcriptomic analysis in the rice root reveals mechanisms by which roots can respond to different below-ground growth conditions - including compaction. Congratulations to everyone for persisting in difficult times. rdcu.be/ej8Ui

Thrilled to see our work now online @nature.com This study reveals how individual root cells sense and respond to real, compacted soil environments. www.nature.com/articles/s41... beautiful spatial transcritomics of rice root in gel & soil conditions and huge credit to Mingyuan and colleagues.

Proud to share our latest published work on moisture responsive root development-a process we call hydropatterning! We find that this process has been under differential selection during maize breeding and the gaseous hormone ethylene prevents branching in air. www.science.org/doi/epdf/10....
