The stuff I write about is so nuts that I find myself quadruple-checking the facts with pen and paper. For example, in 2020 Andreessen Horowitz led a $12 million investment round in the Clubhouse app (at a $100M valuation). It had 1500 users. It reached $4 billion valuation in 2021, then...poof.

For years, the French government has made accessing information on France's arms exports to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt virtually impossible. Now @disclose.ngo, @amnestyfrance.bsky.social and ECCHR filed a case before the European Court of Human Rights to challenge this opacity.

I'd say it's hard to get over it because there seems no one (with power) willing to defend/improve int. law and human rights (maybe Pedro Sánchez?). not only are these lunatics in power, but it's hard to imagine and support a bigger framework where this lying wouldn't be similarly effective
