This is something every transgender person should read, this right here.

I have enormous sympathy for why our people need to do this, but we also need to be sensitive to the fact that doing this kind of work, where you are studying transphobia day in and day out, is going to mess with your brain, even with the best of intentions, even with the utmost skill. It can make you angrier, it can make you more paranoid, and it can make you more depressed. I can't say log off forever, because that's not going to be propitious for your platform or your personal work, but when you're on social media, your presence may become more toxic because you're driving yourself mad doing this work, and you need to be aware of when that's happening and when you need to take a step back.

I am so glad someone is FINALLY writing about this. The amount of times I have had to tell loved ones that the story they're freaking out over is, upon a few clicks and Google searches, needless alarmism is too many. & that so many of these articles are often written by trans ppl, why?!?

I don't believe that every trans person in America should immediately be made aware of every single evil bill introduced by some podunk state rep in a random red state they don't live in I don't think that's healthy. Vibrant porcelain enamel panels and tile, as well as painted artwork adorning the column at the main south entrance, envelop the station's surfaces, displaying iconography inspired by the artist's Philippine heritage and Pacific Northwest upbringing.

Designed through an engagement process with neighboring communities, the artwork's title, Dinhi Kita, is a Bisaya/Cebuano (a Philippine language) phrase meaning "we are here." Kita, the inclusive phrase form of "we," includes both the speaker and the listener: Bustillo hopes that the public may find elements within the work that connect to our collective "we." as well as to one's own journey.

So yes, that's what I worry about people missing, the sheer sense of violation felt by anti AI folks, and how that's different and how that -could- compared to say, backlashes against things like NFTs or Amazon or whathaveyou, how it is already a rallying point and could be a fire starting match.

Or. Maybe it doesn't. Maybe those job losses materialize. Maybe they appear to. Maybe the US political situation draws down the global economy, or something else. And maybe at that point, the AI hate metamorphoses, entwines with other broader factors and trends.

And maybe that goes away. Like the hippies, maybe Gen Z and Gen Alpha and generations after settle into the workforce and have kids or become pet parents or have bigger things to worry about. Maybe it ends up like social media, everyone hates it but a lot of folks engage with it in some capacity.

As has already been pointed out, bsky.app/profile/lizt... telling everyone it was going to take all their jobs, was not a great move. But I don't think that's where it ends, potentially. I think it is, in this moment, representative to many of the rot they see in modern society.

At best it is evil but amusing. Gen Z will happily make fun of AI slop or watch someone screw around with a game mod extending character dialogue powered by AI, they like watching it fail or do ridiculous things. But that's at _best_.

Everyone has their own bone to pick with AI, everyone has their own "it's threatening the things I care about" and I think that among the youth in the countries I referred to above, it's fuel on the current political fire. It is synonymous with "fuck you, fuck your future, fuck the planet"

It's not that everyone is 150% Butlerian Jihad, no. That type of thing is by and large specific subsets of people. But even in the general public, AI worries abound. It's the topic on everyone's minds and it's almost universally negative. Tradwives and liberal winemoms seem to agree, "fuck AI".

But, what I feel, again without statistics, is very clear right now is that, at least in America, Europe, Canada, etc. AI is viewed as a unique breakage of the social fabric. Again, I don't have stats, don't expand from just me. But that is what it feels from my observations.

It's very possible that things could change. As Panic World and tons of others have noted, the public at large in America seems to have different lines on AI, AI is viewed differently in different parts of the world, Gen Z hates AI but uses it extensively, etc. So, this is all still shaking out.

I agree with all of this and I'm very glad to see this being said. However, I think that there is a side conversation here that is important to have, and that is just how uniquely unpopular across the board AI appears to be. I don't have hard stats, so, huge grain of salt but...
