This is something every transgender person should read, this right here.

I have enormous sympathy for why our people need to do this, but we also need to be sensitive to the fact that doing this kind of work, where you are studying transphobia day in and day out, is going to mess with your brain, even with the best of intentions, even with the utmost skill. It can make you angrier, it can make you more paranoid, and it can make you more depressed. I can't say log off forever, because that's not going to be propitious for your platform or your personal work, but when you're on social media, your presence may become more toxic because you're driving yourself mad doing this work, and you need to be aware of when that's happening and when you need to take a step back.

Vibrant porcelain enamel panels and tile, as well as painted artwork adorning the column at the main south entrance, envelop the station's surfaces, displaying iconography inspired by the artist's Philippine heritage and Pacific Northwest upbringing.

Designed through an engagement process with neighboring communities, the artwork's title, Dinhi Kita, is a Bisaya/Cebuano (a Philippine language) phrase meaning "we are here." Kita, the inclusive phrase form of "we," includes both the speaker and the listener: Bustillo hopes that the public may find elements within the work that connect to our collective "we." as well as to one's own journey.

This exchange fascinates me because it's observing a thing that I have observed and concluded is true, and yet AI is also still a project that moves power from those who labour and concentrates it in the hands of a few mega conglomerates and tech moguls which/who are aligned with authoritarianism.

It really saddens me the shift I've seen among a lot of programmers in the last year or two. Feel like there's a growing majority that use AI. I've been enjoying writing code by hand more and more lately though and I'm glad to be in a position to not have to interact with AI tools.

The reason for this is that AI has gotten much, much better at coding over the past year or two.

I mean yeah that's not something I ever doubted. I've also gotten much better at coding in that time because I haven't been pressured to use AI luckily.

Nothing I have ever been through is in any way comparable to anything Emily Gorcenski has ever been through, to be clear. But this is a good entrypoint to noting that persistent death threats lead to either a.) complete disengagement b.) "fucked up" or c.) "Come at me then!" behavior.

If accurate, this is awful behavior from the Claude User Agent. If intentional, Anthropic should prioritize changing this. If accidental, Anthropic should highly prioritize fixing this bug. And if you're upset you got blocked by this, don't use LLM web browsing. blog.xkeeper.net/the-cutting-...

The agent, on the other hand, does not follow those rules. Multiple times, I have observed behavior similar to this, sometimes trying more steps:

The agent requests a page and is given the anti-LLM page instead
The agent tries again, often trying to use the API to get the raw text
The agent, still foiled, will try different user agents, masquerading as both fake browsers (see the “research” one above), or hollow copies of real ones (no real headers, just the UA).
Occasionally hallucinating other pages or endpoints, e.g. “/w/”-type URLs that are used on other Mediawiki sites, but not ours
In many cases, these are not even cases where the operator has explicitly requested our site! The agent has simply gone searching for whatever the operator has asked for, slurping up data as it does. The person behind it will likely never actually see the page that the agent digested, if they even know what pages it accessed.
