I game. Read the news. Do computer stuff. Enjoy animated media. Fuck AI and the slop, don't follow if you're pro-AI. Otherwise I'm basically floatsam in life & consequently too boring to be of interest. I support people. Not hate. Just sayin. ☮️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈👁️‍🗨️🌐🆒🎮🧠🫦🦾

When your cats are settled enough to share a space, a nap, and their human. I love my boys. They're so adorable.

Blanche from the Golden Girls on the left, Andrew Tate on the right. Both are wearing the same outfit, but Blanche wore it best!

Well it's too hot to do shit today so. Time to curl up in bed with the Steam Deck and relax with the kitties. Oh and something came in the other day. A literal blast from my childhood and I was not expecting it. The single most beautiful CRT.

That was painless. The AtariVCS is now running SteamOS 3.8. The video and scripts from Innovision Games [ www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYEu... ] made it simple! Granted I had to wipe out the old Fedora install but that's fine. I have a proper Steam Machine. Now to load up some Roku for News Radio...

Uhm okay uh. Like. The original hard drive on the Packard Bell? It works. And has all the original software on it. I need to make an image of this. I need to put this up on Archive.org. There were a few address conflicts that I need to resolve to fix things but uh. Uhm. Just. wow.

The first four images on the previous post is for the BIOS battery. It needs 3.2v and using a non-rechargeable LiOn battery was not ideal for longevity. So. 3 1.2v NiMh Eneloops. Then the clock battery gets a CR2032. Both holders have on off switches and are far more accessible than before.

Soldering done! But a bit touchy. And I do hate fully surface mounted stuff but. Oh well. I made it work as best I could. Everything feels secure and I'm happy with it! Now I wait for the Eneloops to finish charging and I can see if all the effort bore fruit.

I love manuals. And not necessarily as reference (which is great) but sometimes you open an old one and are greeted with notes from previous owners. In the case of the Packard Bell, the previous owner must've bought this as a first computer. Dog eared pages, extensive notes. A wonderful find!

Spending some time with the ThinkPad 760. Honestly, I like the retro. It's... Just. .... So much damn easier and fun, while still giving that feeling of full control.

Oh look. Something new has been added! In specific, a Dell Latitude 7202 rugged tablet with dock. Why? Because going forward I wanted an x86 based tablet. This one came with 11 pro. Which was quickly replaced with Fedora and KDE. All it needs is one replacement battery! So far so good!

I miss being able to have this to look forward to on those late nights. You saw this and knew you were in for a *good* time.

And it lives! The ThinkPad 360 with the Dock 1 works. Took a bit to get the Adaptec Card in there. Sadly it didn't want to work with the DOS drivers, but was fine under Windows 95. So I guess I'll dig out OSR2.5 and go that route. I'll give the T3338 a go next weekend along with the OSR update.

I have opted to relax instead. With some #Patlabor on the Trinitron. Really amazing how HD 480p video looks on the classic tv. ... It makes me happy.

Sometimes you need to start a day with a little positive bump in your step. So I start my day with a little Condition Green from #Patlabor. I dunno why, but this song makes me happy and hopeful. I hope everyone has a good day! Target! Locked on!

Some of what's on the bench this week... The original IBM ThinkPad 486. Getting a memory and CF card upgrade then DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 for the ThinkDock II. And then the Toshiba Satellite Pro 6200. Also a memory upgrade and a hard drive image to CF card.

Progress! DOS 6.22 is on the T60, thanks to the Toshiba and a CF card, and the dd command. I couldn't even get the CF card to mount in Workstation. I had to use ACTUAL FLOPPY DISKS. But that's fine. Either way, the next step is the DOS drivers, Win 3.11 (obvs), then Office 4.5.

I have spent the day working on bringing a bit of nostalgia back into my life. A RetroPie box and my parents old Sony tv from 1984. Amazed it still works.
A RetroPie built into a Nintendo Entertainment System case hooked up to a Sony CRT television.

That moment I'm browsing through pic archives of old games and realize that the PC based CGA color palette was the Trans pride flag colors. ... All those games and all this time.
