Now here’s something funny. I’m in a waiting room and there is an issue of White House Quarterly, which is a magazine about the White House. What could they possibly put in a magazine like this? Well, I think they are still trying to figure that out too
An article titled “A White House, but NOT ONLY”

Text: “EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER HEARD of the White House knows one thing about it. It is white. Its color, you might say, is built into its name. Yet that name, official since 1901 and in use for much longer, is also misleading. The White House, after all, is only superficially white.”

We’ve had a lot of coyotes in the neighborhood and our neighbor has been keeping their cats inside. In the past, those cats are hung out a lot in our yard. But now, a rat has moved into a shrub outside my bedroom window. I often see it just chilling in my yard. The circle of life comes for us all
A rat (mouse?) hanging out in my yard like it owns the damn place!

I will say, her face in this photo op with Netanyahu from a couple weeks ago, like Cory Booker, suggest that she might be realizing that this was a bad idea. A great way to get ahead of that would be to make a quick message that Israel is committing genocide. Unless she doesn’t believe that

It’s so sickening to see deep blue state governors acting like Republicans. I guess it’s not surprising coming from Bob, but how do we get to the point where someone like him was our “only” option?

Some positivity posting: I was searching for a gaudy image to razz a friend who is turned 40 and I came across this one. The more I’ve thought about it, the more I like it. So as a 30-something-year-old, I’ve decided that I’m life is not quickly coming to an end; life is just beginning

Also I really appreciate this type of film writing.
From Robert Eberts review of Rise of the Planet of the Apes “There's a big climactic action scene that is more engaging than the countless similar scenes I've seen with zombies. And a conclusion that is uplifting and inspiring for the apes, I assume, and proves that Caesar is so smart that when he sees a place from another place, he knows how to find his way back to the other place from the first one, which is what humans need GPS for.

Bottom line: This is the movie you may have been expecting. No less, no more.”

Lol
A far side comic in which a car full of cats holding machine guns drives away from a doghouse that is riddled with bullet holes. In the comment section below the comic, Stef Leiv says “Not humorous. We have way too much violence in the real world after all. We don’t need it in our escape into the fan…” the rest is cut off.

Can’t find a picture of it, but in one scene, Dade crowd surfs and you can see his bright red pager. This yellow one is great too. I imagine them getting together to disassemble and spray paint their pagers. And for some reason, this is overwhelmingly cool to me

I love this part. I wonder why the rich guy who is trying to overturn the will of voters would be worried about Trump getting in trouble for trying to overturn the will of voters.
He donated $6,600 to the 2024 presidential campaign of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Two years earlier, he donated to a PAC affiliated with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who is running for president.

Heywood has not been a supporter of Donald Trump. He says he’d like to see someone else carry the Republican banner for president.

But Heywood said he’s become “sympathetic” toward Trump over the array of criminal indictments he’s facing.

“If every attorney general that’s in a blue state can file unlimited charges against him — and so many of them are bogus — any average person is dead in the water, and that’s a really scary thing to me,” he said.

There aren’t a lot of direct quotes in this article on Haywood, probably because everything he says is supremely stupid. These are the thoughts of a child.
Part of a Seattle times article “Meanwhile, Heywood says the state’s 2021 Climate Commitment Act, which charges companies for greenhouse gas emissions, has helped drive up prices for gasoline and other necessities for everyday people.

“I grew up poor. This would have screwed my family. In my head, I’m thinking of that guy who lives up in Everett and commutes down to Bellevue. Holy crap! For the mom, the mom who’s running her kids all over the place,” he said.It was at Harvard in the mid-1980s that Heywood says he became solidly conservative — repulsed by the spectacle of liberal student demonstrations he saw around him.

“They would occupy the Harvard Yard, and they created a bunch of shanty towns. Part of it was the apartheid thing,” he says, referring to demonstrations urging the university to divest from investments in South Africa over that country’s racist segregation policies. “Anything that could be protested, they would occupy the Yard.”

Lol I looked it up to make sure I was remembering it correctly and it’s even worse than I remember. It’s also very sexist and racist! Also very on the nose that it’s just like “universities are the institution of the Antichrist”. Not subtle but that’s what conservatives really think!
A section from IGNs review of the Left Behind real time strategy game.

“How goofy is this tale? Well, the battleground between the true believers' Tribulation Force and the Antichrist's Global Community Peacekeepers is a heathenish New York City. Your units include gospel-singing musicians, missionaries, healers, and medics. Enemy units feature college-trained secularists, devils, and foul-mouthed rock stars with their electric twangers. Stereotypes are everywhere. New Yawkers speak with such cheesy accents that they should be driving Brooklyn cabs in 1954 while chewing on unlit stogies. Similarly, the game has a 1950s-style attitude about men and women. Only males can become priestlike disciples and handyman builders, whereas only women can become nurses. Female units are actually designated as such and given ridiculous titles like "Friend Woman" and "Medic Woman," a sexual distinction that unsurprisingly isn't extended to their male counterparts. Finally, the game isn't politically

I had a vivid vision while I was driving that an image like this would be used by teens at some point in the future to indicate that someone tried but failed to catch them slipping.
A speed limit sign that reads “Speed Limit 35”. Under that is a radar sign that reads “Your Speed” with a digital display that reads “35”.

I completely missed that The Outlaw Johnny Black finally came out. Some reviews are so-so (gotta stop reading reviews) but this bit described in one review is so funny
A couple of lines from a review of The Outlaw Johnny Black that describes the opening scene of the movie. The review says “He confronts the gang, and the leader tries to intimidate him, but Johnny Black doesn't flinch. As the leader calls him a "Dumb N...," Black kicks him in the head. As the leader drops, someone offscreen shouts, "He was going to say nincompoop."”
