The yellow heart emoji ⟨💛⟩ is mistakenly displayed as a pink "hairy heart" ⟨a pink heart symbol with marks representing short hair.⟩ in Google's Android 4.4 mobile operating system (released 2013) because Google's emoji art team misinterpreted the dots in Unicode's black-and-white reference images ⟨Heart symbol with dots.⟩ as being hair stubble. In reality, the dotted pattern is simply used as a colorless way to represent the color yellow (in accordance with heraldic hatching).

A total of 24 subjects (20 male and 4 female) participated in the tests. Subjects were sought
mostly from groups where it was expected that listeners with high expertise would be found. For
the present experiment, the subjects included 7 musicians of various kinds (performers,
composers, students), 6 recording and broadcast engineers, 3 piano tuners, 2 audio codec
developers, 3 other types of audio professionals, and 3 persons from the general public.

oh yes
bluesky thread by Dan O'Sullivan:
"Today I saw the new 4 hour documentary Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. There were too many times to count that a sold out theater burst out laughing at Elon Musk, something he said or did, even sometimes just how he looked. I believe that is his worst nightmare come to life.
I should add that in addition to being much funnier than anticipated--Musk is going to be intensely humiliated by this movie, it's going to attack the deepest wounds he tries so hard to conceal--it is also bone-chilling. I think he gutted USAID with DOGE to kill masses of people in the third world.
I should also add that when the movie got to showing people burning Teslas and vandalizing dealerships, the theater of mostly older folks in Santa Monica started applauding. I think it is possible Trump and Musk turned libs over 50 into John Brown.
There's a moment early on that's just footage of Elon Musk balding and in khakis walking down an office hallway in the late 90s and the entire audience burst out laughing. If Musk is made aware of audience reactions like this I think he might actually crash out.

Guide to de-upscaling content, mostly 2D animation. Much anime is rendered sub-1080p, then upscaled to 1080p. This can introduce artifacts if not upscaled properly. It also is far less efficient to store. I don't think most groups encode anime at its native res, but I'm not sure why that is […]

Just ran my first SSD wipe command. `blkdiscard /dev/sdX` The implementation is up to the SSD, but it marks the whole SSD as writable - making it nontrivial (even impossible?) to recover the data that was on there. Unlike the awful idea of using `dd` on an SSD, this one won't wear it out.
