I've made it to Irkutsk and am loving this book. It was great to see Jacek Dukaj and Ursula Phillips together at the Edinburgh Int Book Fest because this is a pretty monumental feat of translation.
The cover of Ice by Jacek Dukaj. It's monochrome, with the word ICE vertically centred and has lots of wavy lines. The overall effect is visual movement.

The clouds rolled in just as the eclipse began, but the sky was magnificent. And I didn't have eclipse glasses, so enjoyed the dim, the stillness and the clouds. This view from Morningside, Edinburgh.
Bright sun flare behind dark clouds. There are silhouettes of dark trees below the clouds. There's a bit of glow in the sky.
