@amyactonoh.bsky.social I just wanted to note that I'm a huge supporter , but I take significant issue with your support of Ohio's current anti-transgender policies. I hope you know better than this -- be the leader we need, not a follower of other people's fear tactics.

Also one of my favorite artists. Not only is his composition amazing and just the images so vigrant, but being in the same room with one is an ENTIRELY different experience that never fails to take my breath away.

9 games meme: I'm sort of uncomfortable with the level of Gen X I'm giving here, but to heck with it. I just went with formative PC games -- I didn't get a console until much later. What you need to understand is nothing we built was “off the shelf.” Store-bought environmental assets for stop-motion features do not exist. We were given concept art and told “make it look like this.” Everything you see here, down to the dirt and moss, was meticulously designed and crafted.

So I realized the other day that as a kid, I had measles, German measles, and chickenpox. Now, when I was a kid, we didn't have a chickenpox vaccine, but the others I should have had, right? And the fact that I had the diseases means I didn't get those shots? My mom insists I did, but I have doubts.

My kid asked me what‘s something I teach my students and I said “That if you write what you have to say on paper then—unlike devices—no one has access to it except you and whoever else physically interacts with the paper” and you guys, it made an immediate impression

Chinook salmon have recolonised 88% of their historic range on the Klamath River, with more than 13,000 fish passing the old Iron Gate Dam site in 2025, up from 7,700 the year before. Two years after the dams’ removal, it’s going better than anyone predicted. buff.ly/pToC9gB #ShareGoodNewsToo

Having just dealt with an elder parent situation, my belief is that McConnell is in a SNF, and no one knows yet what his status is going to be except that things probably aren’t going as well as they’d like. He might have hospice aids for wound care and mobility and no one wants to explain that.

I’m excited about the first day back today. I’ll miss summer break and not having to know what day it is, but at the same time, there’s something so hopeful about interacting with students on the first day of the semester. This is unlikely to prevent my first-day pre-class freakout in an hour or so.

To all my old friends—if I was ever super awkward to you and oblivious about it, my new friends can vouch for the autism behind it. Mea Culpa. The love is real even if the social skills were suspect.

Some days I think maybe I’m not actually autistic, but then last night my husband had to give me instructions on how to make mashed potatoes because it had been too long and my brain had dumped the info. Also I had too many arm feels this morning because it’s loud in here.

I would just like to say, for the record, that as I’m showing signs of fatty liver and need to lose weight, I’ve gone off pop entirely for two days now, which is also happening at the same time I’ve cut out most of the sweets in my diet. I hate life right now SO MUCH.

Okay, so when I was a kid, my grandmother had a whole bunch of the cup cozies, for lack of a better term, and my mom requested some new ones when her inherited ones started giving out. So for today’s grandmacore crafting moment, I bring you crochet cotton cup cozies.
Brown, tan, and cream colored yarn in a crocheted tube with a bottom. The same tube on a plastic water tumbler.

Going through boxes left from my MiL’s storage space, and she saved EVERYTHING, which means that there’s so many newspapers, programs, ephemera, graduation cards, postcards, etc. We’re not going to keep all of it — if you have any interest in a small trove of 1960’s greeting cards, etc. let me know.

Lindsey Graham was a terrible human being, and by that I mean he was terrible at being a human being. There were occasionally some faint fucking glimmers of a worthwhile person that got obliterated by his desire for power. I think he just really wanted to feel safe, and that’s the saddest thing.

I deeply, deeply hate traumaversaries. I’m like, why do I feel like everything and everyone hates me today and I suck? And then I look at the calendar, and what do you know, it’s the date of a stupid fight with my ex that changed everything. That was twenty years ago, brain! Seriously. Let it go.
