Raining very hard but not too windy. Wildacres staff assure us it’s not Helene but anyone who lived through that is a bit nervous. No mountain views today - it’s an ID Blumenthal fog

It was rather maddening to hear all the things about upholding the Constitution and everyone is equal under the law etc at jury selection today when very obviously the people at the top are not held accountable for anything

I do not like the very public nature of jury selection - I now know the defendant’s name and charge and I know a lot of things about the people who were called up and asked questions

The state of North Carolina pays jurors $12 the first day, $20 for days 2-5, and $60 days 6+ so anyone who isn’t on salary loses a lot of money for days out of work

To put this in perspective chestnut trees used to be dominant species in the United States. Billions of trees were killed by fungal blight and now fully grown America chestnuts are functionally extinct. There is no getting them back. Ever. All for a data center. www.gadgetreview.com/one-of-ameri...

One of America’s Last Chestnut Groves Is About to Be Destroyed for a Data Center
A rare 200-tree American chestnut grove in West Virginia may be cleared for data-center development, but the project denies the site is on its land.

We created gyms because modern day work no
longer required physical activity. Without exercise,
our muscles atrophy.
I predict we'll need gyms for our brains too, once Al
starts doing our knowledge work.
