Baldur's Gate 3 comic. Karlach is lying down, enjoying the night air as Aldiirn walks by with his flute on his back and a crucible of githyanki weapons in his arms. Karlach calls out to him, "Hey, porter! Good seeing you and Lae'zel getting along! I've never seen you two talk that much."

Aldiirn replies, "oh, yeah we were discussing arrangements for the egg."

With a closer view, it's easy for the viewer to see Aldiirn's smile is incredibly strained and eyes wide in stress. He continues, "The cargo container we prepared will keep the egg safe and sound when we move camp."

Karlach smiles, "Aw, all tucked in tight, you're like its da already."

"I wouldn't go that far!" Aldiirn chuckles nervously.

Aldiirn stops as he's about to walk away, "I was just stepping out of camp to do my prayers, did you need anything?"

Karlach waves him away, "Nah, I won't keep you, have fun tooting your flute!"

Later, Karlach and Wyll are watching a stream of high A notes emanate across the sky from beyond the tree line.

Karlach scratches the back of her head. "Huh. Normally his prayer songs are... better."

Wyll adds, "it's the same note, repeating..."

The problem can be summed up in three words: they don’t care. They could’ve picked any vulnerable population to pick on. Being trans was just the one pulled out of the hat and they’re rolling with it. The only options we have are vote, vocalize and refuse to comply.

the monk’s tea wagon from A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers - seriously one of the best books I’ve ever read 🌿

so the thing is just because someone is not posting about every horror, does not mean they aren't paying attention or being active in opposition, and I do hope people can learn to read for other signs of resistance rather than demand people create a 24/7 feed of screaming it's actually not helpful

Unfortunately, as strong as the premise is to “A Little Like Waking”, I’m about 150 pages in and the books feels like it’s dragging. It’s not bad by any stretch. The pacing is the biggest issue. 💙📚
