Que tu as trop d’inventaire, que les gens en ont marre de bouffer du poisson mais à ce prix ils sont contents et il y a la queue dans ta boutique. (Et non que ton poisson est pourri et que seulement quelques individus louches l’achètent à bas prix espérant le refiler à des clients peu soupçonneux)

Mais la dépense publique par étudiant est bien plus faible que dans les pays avec un système comparables, sauf Italie, partiellement compensé par une dépense privée plus élevée, ce qui se traduit par de plus fortes inégalités de moyens dans le supérieur en France qu’ailleurs en Europe.

Dans la médiane aujourd’hui (cf première colonne, % des 25-34 en 2025 n’ayant pas un diplôme du secondaire supérieur ou plus) mieux que certains et moins bien que d’autres. Pareil pour la part de diplômés du tertiaire.

La 🇫🇷 était à la traîne au siècle passé, avec des parts des 25-34 diplômés du secondaire plus faibles que 🇩🇪, et du tertiaire plus faibles que les 🇺🇸 et le 🇨🇦. Elle a rattrapé dans les 2000s. Seulement les budgets n’ont pas suivi, la 🇫🇷 consacre moins de ressources par étudiant que ces pays désormais.

Les libéraux diront que le système de marché contient la solution à la pénurie puis l’afflux de frais de scolarité augmentera l’offre de places à l’université, mais ce sera long et très inégal. Pour la gauche, il n’y a pas d’autre solution que massivement augmenter les ressources publiques.

Parcoursup est organise la pénurie, en réservant les places aux plus « « méritants » ». Il se situe entre un rationnement équitablement réparti, et le marché pur dans lequel les frais augmente pour restreindre la demande à celleux qui peuvent payer. Mais aucun de ces systèmes ne résout la pénurie.

Dans ce contexte l’allègement des droits sur les donations est incompréhensible. Je n’ai pas vu passer d’estimation de coût mais dans la mesure où ce budget grappille des millions par-ci par-là je ne vois pas l’intérêt politique de cette mesure.

Not to say it’s good but it’s like in the U.S. the centrist position is that it’s fine to overpay for healthcare because it would destroy shareholder value otherwise, and the rest of the world thinks it’s crazy. Every country has one of those.

Size is not a good predictor of innovative potential, which sounds intuitive but would you believe that it’s not what economists usually assume?
In standard theories of firm dynamics, firms grow through the gradual accumulation of incremental innovations, while the forces of creative destruction prevent firms from pulling too far away. Under this view, firms can only reach the top end of the size distribution by innovating at persistently higher rates than their competitors (Luttmer 2010), implying that the largest firms should be the economy's innovation champions. In reality, this is not the case. Because firms grow through bursts of innovation, a single burst may propel a firm to the top of the size distribution. That a firm is large is thus evidence of a history of large innovation bursts, rather than a signal that it will be an innovation champion going forward.
