To those feeling despair: remember, every step toward progress in American history came after the darkness of defeat. Abolitionists, suffragettes, Dreamers, and marchers for civil rights and marriage equality all faced impossible odds, but they persisted. Now it is our turn.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter spearheaded the effort to eradicate guinea worm disease, one with no vaccines or immunity. Forty years ago, there were 3 million+ cases a year. Two years ago: 13.

Senator and Rev. Raphael Warnock on the passing of Pres. Carter (from x.com/SenatorWarno... ):
"President Carter was one of my heroes. His leadership was driven by love, his life's project grounded in compassion and a commitment to human dignity. For those of us who have the privilege of representing our communities in elected office, Jimmy Carter is a shining example of what it means to make your faith come alive through the noble work of public service."
"I'm honored to have had the opportunity to know President Carter - the first president I remember from my childhood, and someone with whom I developed a meaningful friendship. He brought his family to worship at my church. At a family dinner, I remember the President and his amazing wife, Rosalynn, holding my daughter, then just two months old, as if she were their own granddaughter. They were among my favorite people." "President Carter taught us through his example that it's not the office you hold but the orientation you have that gives you the ability to serve effectively. A moral powerhouse, he moved us closer toward our highest ideals while in the governor's mansion and the White House, but perhaps even more so after leaving the presidency. A former president, he got his hands dirty, literally building people's homes while helping them build their lives. President Carter was a Matthew 25 Christian. He believed, as I do, that the true test of your faith is the depth of your commitment to the most marginalized members of the human family. I believe he passed that test and has now graduated into immortality. Democracies around the world are stronger and children across the globe are alive today because of President Carter's work - what a legacy to leave."
"Well done, good and faithful servant, well done."

Please remember that President Carter appointed more minorities and women to the bench than all previous presidents combined. He was the first President to embrace the concept of bringing racial diversity to the federal bench. A key aspect of his legacy. www.washingtonpost.com/archive/poli...

Geeky fun 2025 facts for math nerds- 2025 is a square: 45² = 2025 Waay cooler: 1³+2³+3³+4³+5³+6³+7³+8³+9³ = 2025 Also, (20 + 25)² = 2025 And 2025 = (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9)² And last but not least: 1+3+5+7+...+89 = 2025 (the first 45 consecutive odd numbers added up)

Interestingly both 2025 and 3025 have another cool property: if you "split" the digits down the middle and add them together, you get the square root of the original. 20+25=45 30+25=55 The next year this happens for is 9801: 98+01=99, and 99^2=9,801 (but 9801 sadly isn't one of those cubey sums)

Jessica: You are telling me that in the last year where we have gotten out over 700,000 people which is the most that we have deported since the year 2010, record seizures of drugs that are supposed to be coming across the border, that this is a wide open border?

GN-z11. This was the most distant galaxy, until JWST was launched. Now it's not even in the top 10. 🔭 🧪
A rectangular image with thousands of galaxies of various shapes and colours on the black background of space. Some are noticeably spirals, either face-on or edge-on, while others are blobby ellipticals. Many are too small to discern any structure. One prominent foreground star at top centre features Webb’s signature eight-point diffraction spikes. At lower right, a small region is highlighted with a white box. Vertical lines extend upward like a cone to the bottom corners of a larger box at upper right, showing a zoomed-in version of the highlighted area. The pullout features a galaxy labelled GN-z11, seen as a fuzzy yellow dot. Above it is another galaxy, seen as a fuzzy red oval.

Until a member of Congress goes to jail for theft and/or fraud, these offenses are going to keep happening. It is time for us to publicly declare—if by no means accept—that both DOJ and the FBI have no problem whatsoever with politicians defrauding their donors or stealing money from voters. None.
