As someone who once owned a black-over-black XJR so gloriously sinister none other than Thomas Harris said it was the car he should have given to Hannibal Lechter, yes, it is absolutely appropriate that Jaguars be designed for villains.

There’s also the reality that other services and tools developed for spy craft like PSOAs with hack and leaks and spyware will move into the private sector. It’s all very scary.

The article really paints how the costs involved are pretty minimal; the perpetrators are just marketing these services to high-end clients. But they’re training staff on how this work is done, and they will take that with them to the next level down.

Private Sector Influence Operations are, in my personal opinion, probably one of the scariest things to develop in the past few years. The barrier to entry for these kinds of campaigns will continue to fall, and the number of victims will grow as a result.

I wonder if there was some reason the finance side was slow to remove his name from the title. Financial institutions can be very bad about this during divorces.

I'm personally of the belief that the reason Hyundai is kicking butt is that they can look at competitors and say, hey, that's a really cool car you're making. That attitude is shockingly absent in most OEMs.

I went in March. And wasn't kidding about the Saab stuff.

Brian Peter Gluckman @bgluckman.bsky.social · 18h
There is a lot of Saab memorabilia at Hyundai's Motorstudio Seoul from the design team there, so clearly, Saab was an influence. That said, as an I6 owner, the car I see most of in the design is the Citroen DS.

But as @geekygearhead99.bsky.social rightly points out, the things you want the physical controls for — temperature, heated seats, volume — are there, and they’re easy to access by feel. It’s when those functions are in the screen that problems start. It’s what’s making me pause about a Rivian R2.

One of my first PR jobs was staffing Martha Wash at a benefit show for a Baltimore based HIV/AIDS charity, and she could not have been more generous and charming. She is a legend, an icon, and will always be the moment.

Go-go is very much a DC “thang.” Go much outside of places where you might see a Cool “Disco” Dan tag on a subway line, and you just won’t hear it.

I look at Ford, GM and Stellantis and don't really know what the future is. Does GM become part of Hyundai? Does Ford become Chinese? I feel like the future looks increasingly like Toyota, Hyundai, some Chinese OEMs, probably Renault and VW?

Nothing is going to change the fact that in the rest of the world, EVs are going to make up almost 1 out of every 3 sales in 2027. I do not know how long the US can be an island of ICE, nor do I understand how Stellantis competes in the ROW without a viable EV strategy.

They built almost 3M of these things between 1980 and 1985, and by 1990, they were basically gone. I'm not sure any car vanished off the roads as fast as the X-bodies.

Right — I’m just commenting on that one person who bought the Q50 this year. That car was all engine desperately seeking a modern platform with a decent interior.

I last drove a Q50 in 2018, and it was *trash* then. Why on earth would you buy one now?

Even though it's splitting hairs, I could see the value of offering both AWD and the hybrid in the hatch -- it would be incremental sales, rather than cannibalization.

Brian Peter Gluckman @bgluckman.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Right, an AWD Corolla hatchback would definitely be splitting hairs. Toyota really does have the most complete lineup by far of any brand today -- the only thing they're truly missing is a pickup below the Tacoma.

Technically, the Avalon has three more cubic feet of interior space and one more cube in the trunk, but that feels like a packaging decision more than anything.

The Corolla hatch is the same basic thing as the Matrix -- if Toyota gave it AWD (which is available on the sedan), an inch of lift and some cladding, boom, Corolla All-trac. Tell Toyota to DM me on where to send my check.

The Camry already *IS* Avalon-sized. There's only 3" difference between the last Avalon and the current Camry.

I had those on my Sonata, and they made it a beast in the snow, though gas mileage took a hit. Let me know how it affects range -- I've thought about going to them on my I6, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

The irony is that she could potentially sue the organization under Maryland's Crown Act, which protects people from being fired for their hairstyle, and was designed to protect Black women. The whole thing feels a little disappointing, and rather opaque.

My neighborhood dry cleaner/coin-op laundry/roof repair/auto detailing shop is now selling new low-speed Shandong Dabang EV minitrucks from Alibaba. The owner personally drives an INEOS Grenadier.
A Shandong Dabang EV minitruck from the front. This thing is tiny. Kei trucks dwarf it.But hey, it does have an articulating bed!A hand-written warning that it’s technically a low speed utility farm truck. You know what's more important than whether or not to bring a cup of coffee in the interview? Making sure that the person you provide as a reference is willing to give you one. Or that you even have their correct contact information. To the kid who I just cost a new job: not sorry.
