A new path for an old blade. In Atlanta, a retired wind turbine blade has been turned into a handy footbridge — opening up two acres of previously inaccessible park 🔌💡

A 49-foot decommissioned wind turbine blade now carries walkers across a creek in an Atlanta park, opening access to about 2 acres of ground the neighborhood could not easily reach before.
An enormous wind turbine blade destined for a landfill found purpose as a footbridge, proving that yesterday's renewable energy infrastructure can reshape public spaces today.

And here are those multiple front-page articles published in the New York Times revealing the secrets of Operation ARGUS almost seven months earlier—with the tacit approval of senior officials in the Eisenhower administration (which was preparing to declassify the purpose and results of the tests).
The front page of the March 19, 1959, edition of the New York Times, with the lead three-deck headline, "U.S. Atom Blasts 300 Miles Up Mar Radar, Snag Missile Plant; Called 'Greatest Experiment.'" A small diagram directly below captioned "Blasts in Space" shows how nuclear explosions affected the Earth's magnetic fields. Additional headlines include, "Space Project's Secrecy Produced Heated Debate," and "Radiation Spread; Test Created Curtain Around Earth for a Short Time."The continuation of the front page stories on page 16, including an article on Nicholas Constantine Christofilos, a Greek-born physicist who worked at the Livermore nuclear weapons laboratory in California and in 1957 predicted that high energy electrons from high-altitude nuclear explosions could disable nuclear warheads flying through the resulting artificial magnetic field.
