Reflecting on a public execution witnessed in Paris alongside Maxime Du Camp, the narrator critiques the prolonged agony and senseless brutality of medieval-style capital punishment procedures. He questions the legality, morality, and justification of the death penalty, noting that the crowd gained no moral instruction or benefit from the ordeal, as most could see little in the semi-darkness. Ultimately, the experience left him questioning the validity and purported moral purpose of state-sanctioned executions.

3. How does this affect community (most tenants are short term so don't get involved , let alone vote). 4. Is this a bubble ? If it is what consequences ?

2. How does this type of "housing" affect people who live in them (not families yet. Although many are as small as shacks and RDP houses). Difficult to live, work and entertain in so a rash of eateries and laptop friendly cafes are being built.

Not responding to the article just yet. But living in Green Point having bought when apartments were affordable and watching the frenzy of building (screams into the abyss) I ask : who is funding these huge builds?

Yet if ever there was a case study in how international pressure is counter-productive, it is Trump’s war on South Africa. Overdue reforms in South Africa’s overly liberation-movement-rooted foreign policy suddenly seem impossible because they appear to be concessions to Trump and his.. ambassador.
