Great pics! Meandering through Chicago was my favorite thing to do when I lived there. On days off I would take the train to a random destination, then just wander - snapping photos and eating at new-to-me food spots for the rest of the day.

Suddenly reminded of my last golden retriever - a Chicago dog...

A golden retriever dressed in a blue and orange sweater, wearing aviator sunglasses and a fake mustache, a Ditka-inspired for the benefit of building trick-or-treaters on Halloween.

It’s both a blessing and a curse that the the backyard has four ginormous ash and elm trees. Makes me very nervous that this one lost most of its leaves today… Luckily, Le Pup remains unbothered by such things.

I would back out of the room whenever this guy showed up on Sesame Street. For those unfamiliar, Don Music was a musician who had trouble finishing song lyrics, eventually getting so frustrated he'd bang his head on the piano and scream "NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!". Artistic angst. Truly terrifying stuff.

If you need a quick reprieve from the weight of the current timeline, here's one of my own favorite escapes: Click on #kidlitartpostcard to be instantly transported to a more optimistic place full of supremely talented artists + illustrators. (This happens the 1st Thursday of every month, BTW).

One aspect that feels markedly worse to me is the role social media plays now. Seeing this a week after reading the Wired article about the burnerverse that's been making a habit of doxxing and sharing videos of young women...it's crushing and adds a tier of danger in a way that didn't used to exist

A bunch of St. Paulites (and a few interlopers) went to St. Paul Tap to help save Summit Brewery. 65 beers were consumed in the effort. (Maybe some unreported beers to get us to a nice 69 but minds are foggy this morning.) It was a good time but our work isn't finished. @summitbrewing.bsky.social

Should have recognized trouble was imminent by the dog's stance, but seconds after snapping this (incredibly tranquil, totally serene) foggy landscape, three deer bolted by and all hell broke loose. RIP to my left shoulder (leash-holding side).
