If you share images of what to do during a weather-related emergency, share that advice with blind and low-vision users, too. Add alt text. The alt text should include the text in the image, rather than just a vague description, so people aren't missing out on vital information.

Yes! And conversely, you can make the headings any size font you want. First apply the headings in the correct semantic nested order. Then if you want to make the H3’s on this page bigger than H3’s on other pages, that’s fine.

Make sure that interactive elements that can be accessed by using a mouse, pen, trackpad or touch are at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels. This helps people with low vision and/or limited motor control select the intended element without accidentally selecting nearby elements.

I’d say a good panel moderator might have at least email conversations with some of the panelists ahead of time. Have an idea of what they can contribute and where to direct certain topics?

Bet Hannon @bethannon.bsky.social · 16/01/2025
Here are some ideas: 1) they try to make sure every panel member speaks about an equal amount of time; 2) they come prepared with some ideas of a general direction for the conversation; 3) they come prepared with good questions to accomplish the guiding of the conversation.

Don't use color alone to convey information. Marking required fields by only using colored labels won't help people who use screen readers or who can't distinguish colors. If using color, also add text like asterisks and/or "required." www.w3.org/WAI/tips/des...
