This one trick makes my new apartment not feel so much like a hotel room. Now I have another fifteen prints to hang...

The guy organizing the movers asked me where I'm from, prompted by my pictures of Piran in Slovenia. I knew this moving company are heavily south Slavic, so I should have expected that recognition. Heh. Anyway, en route to the new place now!

On the upside, cat transport yesterday went well - sympathetic and friendly driver, got Audrey into her temporary hotel/large bathroom, set up her cat hut that looks like a cat right in front of the carrier and poof she went right in.

I'm in my apartment! No view, because I didn't want to spend $200 more a month when I can just go up to the rooftop lounge and terrace for way better views. =)

Ditched work early, walked towards home, got tempted by skirts at Aritzia, splurged and bought two, and am now taking advantage of my MoMA membership to spend some time staring at my favorite painting here. I feel so New York Lady right now.
Umberto Boccioni's Dynamism of a Soccer Player. I am not even going to try to write a description of this glorious abstract painting. Its colors are fucking amazing, let's just say that.

Got tired of periodically mourning the digital Phonogram issues and collections not having the text pieces, so look what I bought.
Phonogram: The Immaterial Girl issue one, in physical form, on top of bagged and boarded singles of all the rest of the Phonogram issues.

Atomic Blonde never stops being the best.
Still from the movie Atomic Blonde, of Charlize Theron’s MI6 agent kicking the living shit out of two KGB thugs while wearing a fantastic outfit.

She was expecting to get her subcutaneous fluids and her tuna like normal, but the mean lady put her in the carrier and then took her to the vet instead. Don't know if she'll ever forgive me! I kid, I kid. She'll completely forget this happened in an hour.
A very aggrieved old lady kitty yelling at me after I put her in the carrier to go to the vet.

Look on the glory of Mudd and be in awe.
Mudd Library at Oberlin College in Ohio, a concrete slab of brutalist glory with a goddamn moat vibe going on. I worked deep in the bowels of the basement for two years.

Who's this lady?!?
Some woman in the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, wearing a headscarf, a vest she's been yearning to wear for months, and the first skirt she's ever worn in public. She's smiling even though she cannot figure out how to pose. She is currently thinking about how she needs to remember to tug the headscarf back down her forehead periodically.

Oh fuck it, it's me, it's Beth, and I see me in this selfie, and I've never felt that before, not to anywhere near the same extent. So fuck it indeed, here's a face reveal.
Beth, wearing a rust top, a vest that makes her think of Diane Keaton and a matching headscarf, outside at the WTF open mic in Brooklyn. She is so proud of herself.

Saaaaame! There’s one room on the fifth floor that has a bunch of Delaunay, Chagal, Leger, Picasso, etc, including my favorite painting, Dynamism of a Soccer Player - I just sit there for like fifteen minutes every time.

Huh, I'd forgotten that "One Battle After Another" comes from the Weather Underground's post-Days of Rage statement. I guess I don't remember all the details from that oral history I read 30+ years ago. This is from a New Yorker article by Dohrn and Ayers's kid - www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
Snippet from an article about growing up as a child of Weather Underground members, referencing a statement by the group that includes the phrase "ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER". Text of that snippet of the statement:

FROM HERE ON IT’S ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER—WITH WHITE YOUTH JOINING IN THE FIGHT AND TAKING THE NECESSARY RISKS. PIG AMERIKA BEWARE. THERE’S AN ARMY GROWING IN YOUR GUTS AND IT’S GOING TO BRING YOU DOWN.

I am a bit of a coward, but that’s not the reason for my pfp. It’s been my online avatar for ~25 years and I love my stupid little dinosaur hand puppet. She lives on my desk at work!

On further reflection, I have to retract my complaints about Minfilia, given the vibes evoked by the full outfit’s color scheme.
A Final Fantasy XIV character in a ludicrous in the real world but totally normal in universe outfit. Her torso is exposed, with long sleeves in a lilac-ish purple and a pastel pink sports bra-like top, over some white top thingie on the shoulders and upper arms.

Oh, forgot the vest picture! I'm not sure if the turtleneck is the right thing to wear under it, and the vest will definitely look even better once I can, y'know, fill out the top more, but I found it, tried it on, and got faint Diane Keaton vibes in the mirror, soooooo of course I bought it.
A taupe vest I thrifted yesterday over a long sleeved forest green turtleneck.

Woo, snagged a decent seat. Also, I have a dream of the reality where I have enough spare money to donate enough to @filmlinc.bsky.social to get a seat back named for me.
View from my seat as I wait for the US premiere of Oliver Assayas's The Wizard of the Kremlin. A plaque on the back of the seat in front me with donor names on it.
