While it is of course unacceptable that gardaí are not trained in this practice, it's also unacceptable that the conversation in the aftermath has broadly skipped over whatever conditions have led to this state of affairs. It has been observed this week that this kind of attitude essentially regards crime as a phenomenon that emerges from nowhere.

Don’t flake on voting just because the result is in the bag! Margin matters. Remember how awful it felt seeing Peter Casey jump from 2% polls to 23% after his attacks on travellers. A low turnout/high number of spoiled votes will be seized on by the fash. Every vote for Connolly undermines them
