Softly, Langa teases, “Are you still gonna make me play your game now?”

“If you wanna be a good boy,” comes Reki’s blithe reply.

For a moment, Langa considers this. “I guess I’m a bad boy, then.”

Like an ocean wave meeting the shore, Langa crashes down onto Reki. He cages Reki in with his body and lunges to bury his face in the soft crook of Reki’s neck. Langa drags his mouth over that delicate skin, teasing every sensitive spot with his tongue.

Somewhere in the background, Reki’s phone clatters down between his headboard and the wall. The loud bang it produces as it meets the floor goes unnoticed.

All Langa hears is the shuddery breathless sound Reki makes. At first, he seizes up, like he’s holding his breath in anticipation, but then he melts for Langa. Reki relaxes into the mattress and cranes his head to the side to expose his neck, inviting even more kisses. He releases the fistful he’s collected of Langa’s shirt and threads his fingers through his hair instead.

The navy-haired could only let out a breath as he stared intently into Lion’s eyes, no word dared to escape his mouth in fear of ruining this confusing yet strangely intimate moment.

This is it. Lion thought to himself. There’s no turning back now.

Slowly raising the cold, bare hands of his boyfriend near his face, Lion exhaled a long breath. He could feel the way Issei trembled at the touch, as though the heat was enough to send a tingling sensation from the tips of his fingers to the rest of his body. He didn’t have time to wonder if that was warm enough before the navy-haired retracted his hands, using those to instead cover his increasingly red face.

And yet, one look at the redhead’s radiant smile was enough to render him speechless, his heart still skipping a beat even after the many, many times he got to behold his beloved’s pure beauty. As he was busy being lovestruck for the millionth time, Taiyo swiftly paid for both of their meals, smiling cheekily at his dumbfounded boyfriend as a way to declare victory over their polite fight. The guy sure knew to weaponize his cuteness, and yet Subaru fell for it every single time.

They stayed like this for a while, quiet and serene as the weeping slowly died down. Kazu didn’t dare move a muscle, his arms steadily still like he was holding a porcelain doll; and only when Cuc stirred in his grasp did he begin to loosen up.

Taiyo was focused, undeterred, moving in quick succession. It was captivating, he was captivating, Subaru found himself planted to the floor as he observed. The way his brows furrowed as he concentrated, his breath quickened when he copied dance moves, his shoes squeaked on the dance floor with each determined step, his motion was raw and uncoordinated but no less passionate. When light casted on his sweaty face in just the right angle, rounding his head like a halo, making him gleam and glow like the sun that was his namesake. When he paused and looked at Subaru with shining eyes, panting heavily with a smile on his tired face, asking enthusiastically “How was I? Did I do well?”, Subaru knew, from this point on, there was no turning back.

It made sense to him now why idols tended to sing songs of love, and why Cion owned so many romance novels.

From a post Pokémon Violet series focused on the AI returning to the present. I found that this is a pretty common headcanon about Clavell. #FicSnips Links in the comments.

Clavell's questions continued. "What were the names of those who worked here alongside him?"

"Unclear. Define 'here'."

"Ah, yes, I suppose that was a bit indirect. Here in this lab."

The AI nodded a single time, firmly, only breaking eye contact briefly. "Thank you. In the first year, it was--" He rattled off a handful of names, one of which caused Arven to look up for a moment. But with the AI's back to him, the distressed look went unnoticed. "In the second year, it was--" The second list was nearly identical, but now included Clavell among the few changes. "I apologize. I do not remember the name of one of the researchers. He was only present for a month. In the third year, it--"

This time, Clavell cut him off. "Thank you, that will be sufficient. When I first began work with him, I was under a different name. Do you remember that name?"

That was the longest the AI had looked away, seeming hesitant to respond. "I do. But it would be impolite to speak it."

"I am giving you permission."

"Very well." The name he spoke was a relatively unremarkable one, but stood out as being distinctly feminine.

Clavell's expression was impossible to read. "Thank you. Now, I'm going to give you a few dates, and I would like to know if you associate them with anything."

"--should be dead." It was finished by Clemont, returning to his seat. "Actually, I wanted to bring that up, Penny. If it's ok with you."

There were many things that could mean. "Bring what up?"

"Your...apprehension on working on the AI, since she tried to kill you. Or was overridden by a program that tried." He waved at the screen. "I'll get there eventually. But whenever I have to work with Lysandre, all I can think is 'this man tried to murder me and everyone else in Kalos'. But Lear treats him like nothing happened." His usually confident voice was wavering a little. "I'm really glad he's not here. Even if he's from another timeline, he still did the exact same thing there, so he's functionally the same person. The only difference is that he survived somehow. And..." He trailed off, letting his head droop and his hand tighten around the computer mouse. "...it's just really frustrating."

One of the rumors Penny had heard soon after arriving was that Lysandre had recently killed two people, but it was unconfirmed. No sync pairs were missing, but it was reportedly two Rocket grunts, who used their own documentation. And she wasn't about to hack into their records just to find out what she already knew about a bad guy being a bad guy.

He reached out to brush a strand of hair from Rey’s face, fingers slightly brushing against the smooth, pale skin of his rival. The purple-haired flinched at the contact, as though it’d sent a jolt of electricity to his cheek that went all the way through his spine. This jolt must’ve reached his heart also, for he felt a very strong, very sudden burst of pain that rang across his chest.

He wanted to have Cuc by his side, and wanted him more than anything in the world. He had never felt like that with anyone before, not even to any of the other candidates he now considered his friends.

He finally understood why he had been noticing Cuc more often after their first hug, why he had been so intrigued with this so-called happy typhoon, and why he had felt so utterly horrible saying those hurtful words when Cuc nearly left the audition.

At 3 a.m. that day, Hiryuu Kazu reached an epiphany.

Reki wouldn’t have guessed that Langa would be so into the theme, yet there he stands in the center of the room, wearing a white nurse’s costume. The latex dress hugs his body, its wide sweetheart collar showing off his neck, collarbones, and muscled chest. Its pencil skirt is anything but modest; it’s barely long enough to reach his upper thighs, so it shows off his legs. The dress has small sleeves that just cover his shoulders. There’s a headband in Langa’s hair to match—a little white nurse cap with lacy trim.

“Should I call you Nurse Langa?” Reki quips, and snorts when Langa scrunches up his nose in disapproval.

“No.”

“Okay,” he laughs. “What should I do, then?”

“All you have to do is follow directions,” answers Langa evenly. “And keep your hands to yourself,” he adds as an afterthought.

He slides a piece of paper off of the countertop, and inspiration twinkles in his eye. Anticipation coils in Reki’s gut.

Langa fakes a critical peer at the paper, but when he turns to face Reki, he does so with a soft smile.

“I’ve got your lab results here,” Langa says, laying the page flat on the counter once more. “Don’t worry. I’ve got just the thing.”

He brings his other hand from behind his back, showing off a little hot pink container made of translucent plastic. He pops it open and plucks out what appears to be a pink gummy. Langa hovers it before Reki’s lips and coaxes, “Open wide…” in a sing-song tone that makes Reki melt.

Langa brings one knee onto the examination table and balances a hand below Reki’s chin as he places the gummy in his mouth. An artificial watermelon flavor bursts on Reki’s tongue—it tastes almost like candy.

Reki doesn’t need to ask what the gummy was; he can already feel it kicking in, warming him from the inside out and making his heart beat a little faster. Langa licks the leftover sugar from his fingertips and pulls on a black latex glove from the supply station beside the table.

Fur white as snow, teeth sharp as knives, claws that looked like they could pierce skin, and black horns on the top of its head. It looked exactly like what step-sister Miya had described, only… very cartoonish.

And very, very ugly.

Cindereki snorted.

The beast grumbled lowly, making him bite his tongue. Fear returned as the creature rose taller, looming ominously to…

“Forgive me for springing this on you all of a sudden. It’s just that… I’ve always wanted to be with you, as more than just friends. I want to go on dates with you and stuff, I want to tell you everyday how much I like you. You’re so incredible, Reki, I can’t help it. I know I don’t have a chance, but I just can’t stop wanting you.

“Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about us, especially near my birthday. Everyone around me keeps saying I should make the best of my time and not have regrets. I thought of you, and I realized I might regret it if I never tell you how I feel. So, for my birthday, I decided to take my chance and experience being with you like that. I know it’s selfish, so I only ask for it once. But even then, I know I won’t have any regrets.”

It hit him then, like a truck almost did, that somewhere along the line, Langa had fallen in love.

It was a little scary, at first, knowing he had let himself feel that way. Curse his foolish heart for being so weak, opening so willingly for a boy who was merely sweet and kind to him. He told himself he’d move on, that his feelings were temporary… if only Reki hadn’t made it so hard.

Because if falling in love with Reki was easy, then loving Reki was even easier. Langa himself couldn’t fully explain it, having fallen so hard and fast he failed to consider all the hows and whys. It just… happened, he just happened to keep loving Reki, like it was something as natural as breathing, something he did everyday without a second thought. It was as though Langa had always been in love with Reki, even back when he hadn’t met him yet. As though all these times Langa couldn’t love another was because he had been waiting. Waiting for Reki.

Reki told himself he didn't want to be helpless, at Adam's complete mercy, while stunning red eyes pierced through his denial and saw that all that fight was just on the surface. He had become such a liar, to everyone. Inside, he was begging to be grabbed just like he was the second the world went dark.

The collision of their boards was softer than the gloved grip into his hair. Reki gasped at the sting that had immediate tears in his eyes. His head was forced backwards with Adam's fist being the only thing stopping Reki from serious injury. Everything else was fine, welcomed even. Reki was so fucked up and Adam was worse.

“Oh little red..” He cooed just like he did at the beginning of the race. Like he was the big bad wolf. “Caught in the tunnel again?”

Reki clicked his tongue in genuine annoyance. He didn't need that head start, not anymore. “Fuck you.”

For his spat statement, Adam pushed him even closer into the wall. So close that Reki could feel his hair snagging on sharp rocks and hear the sparks of Adam's knuckles against the stone. His eyes widened as that familiar, and loathed, fear shot straight up his spine. Even if he was keeping Reki pinned with his broad, and wonderful, body, the satisfaction of being the one to make Adam so hard was not touching the urge to flee.

The light at the end of the tunnel illuminated the eyes behind the mask. Adam's gaze was warm and it would turn molten at a challenge. Reki was fantastic at issuing those, intentionally or not. Always taking on beefs he couldn't handle but he could handle Adam. And apparently that's what made him so appetizing.

They were having a sleepover that night, a cozy night in for the two’s first ever Valentine’s Day together. After a day full of adventure at the amusement park, filled with carnival foods, wild rides, and game competitions, the boys decided to end the night with something a bit more mellow. Who could blame them, though, for they’d already spent all their energy on running around a huge park and, in Kazu’s case, holding everything inside their stomachs after back-to-back rollercoaster rides.

Maybe he’s having a midnight snack. Kazu thought to himself, chuckling at the mental image of Cuc sneaking through his fridge even after stuffing himself full with deep-fried food. His boyfriend was silly in the best way possible, always managing to bring a smile to his face even with the dumbest stunt imaginable. His ice-cold heart was melted away by the pure radiance that was Cuc, and from then he found himself yearning for more of that joyful energy in his life.

“Right…” Kazu tilted his head slightly, followed by a deep breath. “I think I want to try skateboarding.”

“Are you sure?” Rey asked, his voice concerned. “You could get yourself hurt.”

“Well, I get hurt climbing trees all the time. How bad could it be?”
