I was here, too. Always say it's the best match I've ever experienced live, and with today's news it's unlikely to be surpassed.

Sable is probably in my top five games ever, and the Design Works book is just as beautiful. Really interesting to read these reflections and - as I'm off sick this week - might be time for a comfort replay

More true for 10 y/o me than 20, but I've always said I'd be amazed at the fact that I'm a successful* writer, but shocked at what being a successful* writer actually entails. *successful i.e. earning a living from it as my sole** income **transitioning away from it now but you know

This Sept marks my first year writing about tabletop games with @rascal.news! I'm immensely grateful, and have learned a lot from the Rascal folks who have taught me so much about the industry and being a better writer, so I wanted to share some of my fave pieces over the past year.

I got laid off! 👋 There was no chance to say goodbye to my colleagues of several years before Valnet deactivated everything so I’ll just say it was a huge pleasure to be part of trying to build something unique within the games media landscape despite going up against so many challenges.

The 'ol email and deactivate after 5 years was expected, but still sad. Still, I'm proud of what I accomplished during my time at TheGamer (and DualShockers before that). Now I can spend my days writing ponderous blog posts ✍️

Thanks everyone for the kind words here. I'm one of the lucky ones in that this was just one arm of my freelancing. Other, full-time, staff have also been impacted, so please look to hire them first. But then hire me, too.

I've also got time to do more consultancy. My clients this year have been very pleased with the work I've done and I'd love to help your game pre- or post-release through assessments, mock reviews, writing review guides, editing, or anything else. Hmu here, by email, or through my website.

I'm especially looking for a home for my tabletop words - I'm on the GW and Trench Crusade partner programmes and have shone a light on a bunch of cool indie games over the past year through interviews and getting hands-on at conventions and events. I also make messed-up Dark Mech conversions.
Dark Mechanicus Cawl conversion.

It seems I've been made redundant from my role as a columnist at TheGamer - I can no longer access Slack or the CMS. While I'm gutted with the manner I've been let go from a site I've worked with for nearly five years, this means I've got plenty of time to write words for you! www.bensledge.co.uk
